The fact that this never happens is what proves it's unreasonable. Most of the time coordinators that get a new job will finish out the season with their old team even if it's just a mediocre bowl game.

Would you expect an NFL OC in the playoffs that accepts a new job to just up and leave and say "frick it, who cares about a super bowl?"

Yes I would if that coach was hired for a college job

Very rarely. Kirby finishing the season was not normal. Go look at new head coaching hires made last year and count the number of coaches that stated on for their bowl games

And I heard he wants Pruitt to skip the playoff games and start the HC job asap
I'd rather he left now.

Move Lupoi as interim DC, let him keep OLBs. Promote one of the 8,000 analysts to cover ILBs and avoid another distracted coordinator

Alright now that I see no one agrees with me I'm not afraid to admit I'm probably wrong. I just feel like its unfair to try and take away the chance at a title that you've worked really hard for.

I'd want my new HC hire to start immediately as well. Especially with the early signing period.

This is the price of poker, my man.

Fulmer isn’t trying to take away Bama’s chance at a bowl game. Nick Saban is the best defensive coach in the country. Fulmer is trying resurrect a football program that he loves. This has ZERO to do with Alabama.

Tom Herman @ Ohio St stayed
Kirby stayed
Kiffin was going to stay, but got pushed out.

If Pruitt goes, he will be the first one to do so.

Some want him to go, I have no clue what's best.

as well as Jeff Brohm, Tom Herman, Willie Taggart (this year too)

This year, Jimbo won't coach the bowl game, neither will Dan Mullen, Joe Moorehead, Chad Morris, Scott Frost, etc

I don’t know if you’re being sarcastic or not, but expecting the guy who took your head coaching position to start getting the mess that was left by Jones cleaned up and start recruiting as soon as possible doesn’t seem even the slightest bit over demanding.

Our admins apparently didn't have a problem with Kirby Smart coaching Bama's defense during the playoffs.

I ain't even mad. It's just business. The fact that our staff gets hired away for big promotions helps us easily attract and hire great staff.

I just hope Saban tells him to go now and turns it over to CoDC Tosh Lupoi for the playoffs. Letting the last two coordinators (Kirby &Kiffin) stick around did not turn out well. They ended up doing a lousy job.

Cut Pruitt loose, promote Tosh now and let's roll.

With the new early signing period coming before most, if not all, bowl games, you're going to see fewer and fewer programs allow new hires to stay on for postseason games, regardless of the situation.

Jimbo left, Scott Frost left. Hell, read the Sentinel’s opinion on the matter:

quote:

Scott Frost's sentimental ride at UCF should not include last dance at Peach Bowl

quote:

But Frost chose to leave UCF. We wish him godspeed. His ties have been broken, and the thought of a last dance seems particularly odd, and awkward.

Breaking up is hard to do, but sometimes it’s the most prudent choice.

Are you citing bowl games as being the same thing as playoffs/national championship asperations?

Sorry, I don't have time for that nonsense.

I’m citing [insert whatever game you want here] as being second tier and beneath whatever job a coach accepts, especially if it’s a promotion (which it is for Pruitt) and involves more money (let’s check this one too).

Doesn’t matter how important you think your program or your next game is, they have all become second tier to Pruitt now.

Just the beginning too as Phil has Power again. Next he'll have a kilo of smack planted in Saban's home.
