Jalen did better against the tougher defenses than Manziel did.

I am nearly certain statistics vs good defenses will show that to be erroneous.

And as we saw last night, Jalen can also make tons of plays and put up big numbers against shitty teams if the coach leaves him in the entire game.

You can't compare Big 12 defenses with SEC defenses that Manziel face.

You put Jalen Hurts on the 2012 Aggie team, and he’s not doing what JFF did...so gimme my fav little cokehead.

I love Jalen but he was running around and throwing to wide open receivers. Those things have never been issues for him and he's always excelled at it.

Same can be said for Manziel.

Hurts sure looked good last night, but man, Johnny was so fun to watch.

Go and look at what he did vs Florida and LSU that year.

Vs Florida: 1 rushing TD on the game, 173 yards passing and 60 yards rushing on 17 carries.

vs LSU: 0 TD's, 3 INT, 276 yards passing, 27 yards on 17 carries.

And his big time Heisman game:

vs Alabama: 2 TDs, 253 yards passing, 92 yards rushing on 18 carries.

Not bad obviously, but also not superstar numbers either. 3 turnovers by Alabama was the difference maker. If not for those turnovers, A&M loses all 3 games instead of just 2.

All his big stats were against lower teams and just about any higher end QB/team could put up huge numbers like that if the coach leaves them in the entire game.

And that is all the ranked teams A&M played that year until the bowl game. They even played 2 FCS teams that year.

Florida was his first start as a redshirt freshman. Sumlin had no idea what he had and played super conservative with him.

I can’t believe we’re honestly having this conversation after 1 start against Houston

One of the greatest college QBs of all time vs a Bama washout. This is a bad question and I feel bad for you for even thinking of it.

Hurts gave LSU way more problems, so I'd have to say Hurts

"Ratted out Manziel to the Mannings"? Once again, it was some one else's fault.not JM's. However, there was no ratting out, JM just did not show up for a morning session and when he finally did, his hang over was obvious. Archie was livid. With over 1000 counselors involved over 25 + yrs, JM was the only one ever kicked out. No way Saban could have "straightened " him out, it was way too late.

Manziel vs LSU 2012
29/56 276 yds 0 td 3 interceptions 23.3 qb rating

Manziel vs LSU 2013
11/20 193 yds 2 td 0 interceptions 85.6 qb rating

Manziel vs Auburn 2012
16/23 260 yds 2 td 0 interception 98.8 qb rating

Manziel vs Auburn 2013
28/38 454 yds 4 td 2 inteceptions 79.1 qb rating

Hurts vs LSU 2016
10/19 107 yds 0 td 1 intereptions 62.8 qb rating

Hurts vs LSU 2017
11/24 183 yds 1 td 0 interceptins 66.4 qb rating

Hurts vs Auburn 2016
27/36 286 yds 2 td 2 interceptions 52 qb rating

Hurts vs Auburn 2017
12/22 112 yds 1 td 0 interceptions 56.4 qb rating

So statistically Manziel was better against LSU and Auburn defenses, which are generally 2 of the 3 best defenses in the west. I think that would extrapolate accordingly.

edit: according to ESPN box scores

I think Swope bailed him out many more times than Evans.

For the first two seasons of college football? Manziel.

For all college and the whole NFL career?

Jalen all the way.

3 turnovers is why A&M won that game.

His numbers were average otherwise.

I stopped reading when you cited a 3-9 Auburn team with Vanwhatever dude as DC for Manziel.

Average? 77% passing, 350 total yards, 2 TDs including an absolute dime across the field in the 4th qtr to go up 2 scores

since you specifically mention Auburn, 2 years ago Hurts managed 112 yards and 14 points in a loss to Auburn.

A year later Tua threw for 324 yards and managed 52 pts in a blowout victory.

The point is that Hurts just did not play well vs good defenses.
