statistically speaking, Manziel was a better college player than Hurts.

Tua too, for that matter.

JM in his prime never won squat.

JM had Kevin Sumlin as his HC. He never loses a game and gets straightened out if he has Saban running the show.

Jalen 100%.

Drugs and the off the field stuff with Manziel is really just a scapegoat for a real lack of talent.

Hurts vs Manziel
Hurts.

well gee. That is odd, considering how much Hurts sucked at Alabama according to you 2 years ago.

I love Jalen but he was running around and throwing to wide open receivers. Those things have never been issues for him and he's always excelled at it.

JM would not have lasted a semester under Saban. Blaming his multiple flame outs on Sumlin is ignorant. Even the Mannings kicked him out of their passing academy when he skipped camp sessions after hitting Bourbon St. one night / morning. Repeat: JH is a proven winner, JM a proven loser.

well yeah. Tua set the alltime ncaa record last season for passing efficiency, in spite of playing the last half of the season on an injured leg, which will obviously affect a qbs entire game, especially a mobile qb.

For the record, I'd take Manziel because he was a better passing qb. If he'd played for Riley at Oklahoma (yes, I know Riley wasn't head coach then), he'd have set many records.

Much like Tebow as the years went on people have forgotten how frickin good a college QB Manziel was.

I didn't watch the game but I would bet a lot of those passes were within 10 yards of the line of scrimmage, and the receivers running wild after the catch. Kind of like Kiffin used Hurts.

Hurts would have never been able to pass well enough to beat Bama.

Yep, and a few wide open down the field throws, roll outs and Jalen making plays with his legs.

He was awesome, but I've seen him do that sort of stuff before. The real test is still out there.

greatest thing about my argument is that the stats don't lie. I'm sure Saban would have wanted Manziel over that tatted up freak who actually ratted out manziel to the mannings.

Damn he was so good on the field. Why did he have to be such a frickup everywhere else?

But in the no defense conference, he'll put up gaudy stats.

I think Saban was just fine with the tatted up freak.

I know the guy is wealthy and all, living large, but I feel kind of bad for him. Evidently he has a lot of demons to deal with.

He was a talented fellow though. And yeah. A shame his bad habits ruined it.

Not my fault Manziel was over-rated. He was an obvious bust.

While he could definitely get an award for being one of the slipperiest QB in history, and could extend a play with the best of them, beyond that he was extremely lacking.

His Heisman year and his record was the result of scoring 5 and 6 TD's against lower tier talent. When he played better defenses in LSU and Florida, he was shut down - badly.

Then he gets his Heisman because of the Alabama game. And the people who don't get the credit they should in that game is the A&M defense, and the ground crew at Bryant Denny for however they cut that grass so that the ball on a fumble lands right back in his hands after drawing in the defense.

AJ had only 2 interceptions in the regular season and they both happened in that game. And the second INT was of course what sealed the game, because who knows why Nuss thought it was good to throw the ball way out there inside the 5. But the A&M defense won that game and they got 0 credit for it.

AJ lost the Heisman in that game and Manziel won it.

And beyond that he just makes terrible decisions all the time. The balls he threw up were not the kind of throws anyone should be throwing. But he was lucky and he had Evans of course. Just because a guy comes down with the ball, makes a play and it goes in the stats book the same, doesn't mean it's actually good play.

Jalen did better against the tougher defenses than Manziel did. And as we saw last night, Jalen can also make tons of plays and put up big numbers against shitty teams if the coach leaves him in the entire game.
