I've managed to whittle away everthing I used to care about down to UGA football. I still pout like a bitch when they loose. Fortunately, that doesn't happen much anymore unless we play Bama.

This current world has a lot more important things to really care about. We didn't realize just how spoiled we were to live in the world from the mid 1970s through 2020.

That being said, maybe because we are having a good season, I care a lot more this year than in the past several.

Fully invested during the games but dont really carry it with me after. Feel good if we win for the next few days but if we lose I just move on.

it has waned immensely the older I get.

I'm still 100% invested during the game but a loss does not crush me anywhere near as it used to when I was a student.

Kids and life will do that.

Football is not what it used to be. I couldn't really name 5 starters before August.

This is where I'm at. Ten years ago I could tell you the name of everyone on the three-deep, where they went to high school, their 40 time, their vertical, and what they had for breakfast. Today I'm more like you. Having kids is too much of a time and mind suck to be able to keep track of all that shite now.

The older I get the less I care deep down. I still watch every snap, but I have never been into sports outside of bama football.

The more time goes by the more I am invested in politics and world affairs etc... and it puts the "stress" of football into an entirely different perspective. I can only hate fellow sports fans so much anymore, even auburn/tenn fans. It's all a fun luxury stress now. All of you bastards want the same kinds of things that I do out of this life. That's hard not to fully see now. Y'all aren't my enemy b/c of a stupid fking football team paid for by universities that hate every way of life we stand for, for kids that will never know us.

Not saying I don't like football, I still love it and always get excited to see those crimson jerseys bust through the gate.

Just saying... I agree with you, all in all.

I'd say Im pretty into it. I listen to multiple podcast about my team, check the news stories daily. Really into the games themselves. Afterward though I don't let it get me too high or too low, its just sports.

This would piss me off as a teammate. Finish the season!

Multiple SMU players will sit out the remainder of the 2022 season with the intention of entering the transfer portal, according to multiple reports. Sophomore safety Isaiah Nwokobia, veteran DB Chace Cromartie, and receivers Roderick Daniels Jr. and Jayleen Record, will enter the portal, according to On3. Team staffers told the Dallas Morning News, however, that Nwokobia and Daniels had not yet communicated an intent to transfer.

Young family, very busy job, can’t get to games because of distance, etc take the fire out. Plus, when sports were cancelled for the pandemic, it made me realize how much I actually don’t need sports

Not nearly as I used to be. You get older, your job responsibilities grow, kids, you own a home that you are always having to do something with and you've seen 1000 games and know that there is always another next week or next season.

The most gut wrenching loss ever was the kick 6 and that lasted about a half hour because I knew there were plays after plays that Bama could have made and didn't. Twice Bama sealed the game with 1st downs only to get a holding and a procedure call that nullified. Auburn had played better all day and deserved to win. it shouldn't have even come down to that play. Then I was done with it.
It used to define when I was a kid and had nothing much else but I've got so many things going on now it's just an experience for a few hours every saturday....unless its on CBS then its like 5 or 6 hours. Auburn is still the game I get closest to my old self but I never become that guy today.

This probably has something to do with it too.

When you are a student, living, eating, breathing your school every day, it's easy to see other schools as "the enemy" or whatever.

When you're a working adult, the "other" fans are your neighbors, friends, co-workers, your kids' teachers, etc. Makes it a lot easier to see that it's all supposed to be in good fun.

I'm not as crazy about it as I used to be. I used to read/watch every scrap of news all year. Now, I mostly just watch the games and if I have something better to do on Saturday, I just record it. Getting older puts things in perspective.

I'm spending the day caring for my ailing mother and packing her house for a move. I can safely say that my emotional investment in Arkansas football is fairly low now. If we win that is great, if we lose I just don't have the energy to get upset about it.
