How emotionally invested are you these days?

Ole Miss losses used to ruin my weekends when I was younger, which of course led to a lot of ruined weekends.

I still watch every game I can, but I hardly get too up or down about them anymore. I’m almost 40 as well, with a family, so maybe that’s a factor.

What say you?

Not nearly as much as I used to be. Getting older probably has a lot to do with it. The game doesn’t seem to have the same mystique it used to though. Seems like a polished corporate imposter.

I have Jadon Hasel on mine. When I get excited it says Jadon Haselwood.

During the game I am into it.

Expletives, slamming the arm of my chair, etc.

When the clock hits 0:00 I am over the losses.

I maniacally laughed at kick 6. The sheer utter insanity of losing that way was too funny.

It comes with age.

Same here. Life starts accumulating and ya see what's really important about it, and ya start laughing when ya used to be cryin.

Everyone reading this is going to die, including you.

Football is not what it used to be. I couldn't really name 5 starters before August.

Not nearly as much as I use to be…partially from getting older but most of it seems to come from the 2019 season…it’s like watching LSU was always trying to climb this mountain and with the greatest season ever accomplished, I’ve reached the top…that feeling may go away, but right now losses bother me for about 10 minutes and it use to ruin my night.

I couldn't sleep after the lsu/aub game Saturday night because my anxiety was still high.

Since 2019, I'm not sure there's another SEC fan base that has got more practice at it.

Teens and early 20's a loss would ruin my weekend. Now I am over it sometimes before the game ends. Not sure if it's realizing there are way more important things in life or I just matured enough to control my emotions.

Nothing like when I was actually at LSU

I still get pumped for a big game, and still get the racing heart when it's a close one in the 4th qtr

But now I am just too removed. When I was in school I was getting student tickets. It is hard not to get more emotionally attached to a game when you are partying at the tailgates drinking from a keg then headed to be in the middle of a drunk debauchery fest in the stadium. Or when RV's start rolling in a couple days before a big game, or gameday is setting up a stage on your campus. You are cooking in that atmosphere all week. Every week day during football season is leading up the main event that is the game. Now unless a kegger pops up across the street and game day posts up on your front lawn while the band plays the 4 corners salute, the build up is gone

Now I have this stupid crap called "priorities" and "responsibility"

I still have a ton of fun during the games.

I get loud and yell when someone does something exciting.

I cuss'em out when they frick up.

At the end of the game, though, it leaves me. It used to sit with me for days, but not anymore.

Similar to you, I'm in my late 30s with kids and it's just not worth it to hang onto those emotions long term anymore.

But I still love talking OM sports with my buddies and family and I cried like a baby when we won the Natty in baseball.

Definitely not anywhere near when I was in my teens and 20’s but much more than most of my friends.

This season is a bit of a freebie though given what the shrimp boat captain left in his wake.

Just a game, who cares. Would be weird to be 40 and piss my pants about some 18 year old dropping a football.

Also, quitting drinking 3 years ago makes losing easier...surprisingly
