Ole Miss losses used to ruin my weekends when I was younger, which of course led to a lot of ruined weekends.

Good question. I am really not emotionally invested in Ole Miss football though.

I trace my waning interest back to whenever they started the early signing period in recruiting. NSD used to be a cool day, a couple of weeks after football season ended, and right before spring practice.

I really enjoyed following players as they went from HS to college. That, in turn, made me more invested in the team. Now, I really just don't care. I'll look at the recruiting class ranking when it's all said and done, but it is sort of disappointing to know that a good chunk of those players will probably transfer.

Maybe it is a combination of being older, but the game has changed so dramatically over the past 5-10 years, I sometimes wonder if my interest will continue to drop.

During the Chad years? Hardly. During Nutt, Petrino, Bert, and Sam? Follow it like white on rice.

Not nearly as much as I used to be when I was in my 20s. I’m married with 3 little ones now and priorities have drastically changed. I still get on here at least once every other day to keep up and talk a little shite. We lose, oh well. Where can we get better? I’ll look for that next week. We win. Sweet. Where can we get better? I’ll look for that next week. That’s about the extent of it. No more screaming at the tv and letting my whole weekend be ruined.

Also, like the other poster said, the game isn’t what it used to be. It’s a minor league now where the players go to who has the most money. They aren’t getting pt? Transfer. Regular fans have been priced out of the games as well. It’s $1k weekend if I want to bring my family to a game.

I think 2019 has played the biggest part though. Growing up as an LSU fan in the 90s, winning a national championship was NEVER going to happen in my lifetime. Then it did. That could never be topped…. until 2019. Getting to witness the greatest college football team/ season of all time did it for me. That was the mountain-top. It can never be taken away. So in a sense, it kind of killed college football for me. I know I’ll never get to experience that again, but I’m 100% ok with it.

My Saturdays used to revolve around football. Now it's kind of an afterthought. I've got too many other things going on. I'll typically watch the Gators after the game has already been played and I'll skip through most of it.

I care enough to plan around watching games, and to be invested during the game, but not enough to let it change my mood afterwards.

I gave up my season tickets last year.

I’ll put it like this - there was a point during the ‘15 Alabama game against A&M where I was swearing at the TV thinking Alabama was about to let them back in the game up by like 21 in the third… Last weekend at the lowest point against Arkansas, I wasn’t really all that bothered. It is what it is now.

Always fully invested, even on down years. My wife knows not to mess with me or talk to me much during a game. She also knows me being pissed off on Sundays after a loss is not her fault, and gives me a little space to vent until I've made peace with it.

I am more intellectually invested. We’ve sucked for a while. I enjoy analyzing good teams and seeing good ball. It’s why I can’t really stand watching anything but the SEC or great teams bc it’s just so boring. It’s stimulating to watch some of these elite teams go at it. The game is still the greatest combo of talent, strength, and strategy on display on earth.

I asked my friend on Saturday leaving Jordan Hare why I didn’t care as much about the Auburn loss. He said it was expectations. Probably correct. I witnessed the greatest single season in college history just 11 years ago.

Cam is better than Burrow.

Honestly, after Covid, a lot changed, but I think that's also because of NIL and immediate transfer eligibility in the portal. A lot is changed.

Seeing the NCAA tournament get outright canceled, fan attendance being reduced, are things I thought would never be touched because of the money involved, but it made me realize sports are just sports and not more than life. If LSU would lose to Alabama, it would almost ruin the year. Now, it's whatever.

Not nearly as much...and not just because of Auburn's product on the field but it has more to do with there not really being a "team" concept anymore. Where you see players develop at your school over the years. Now it is more mercenary type players.

I however, still remain very invested in the Braves.

Im about the same. I was emotionally invested as a student and well into my 20s and 30s. As a middle aged man I am not. I mean I jumped up and down like a lunatic after 2nd and 26 (I found my earbuds hanging on the back of the TV the next day) but I no longer get down after we lose. I mean it sucks but it doesnt affect me for days afterwards anymore.

I'm a Mizzou fan so I'm well acquainted with disappointment.

I'd say things that work out along the lines of expectations don't bother me so much. What seems to stay with me is the "coulda beens".

After K-State I had VERY low expectations for the season. Then the next two weeks taunt me with two winnable games that were lost in stupid fashion. That's the stuff that is still hard for me to shake.

Not nearly like I used to be. Like others said, I have a family and a career to worry about.

I haven't been to a game at A&M in person since Kyle Field was finished. So all my college football watching is done from home now. And I honestly care more about our Saturday morning family time than the outcome of the game.

We all get up, put Gameday on the TV. My toddler daughter wears her "football dress", we all play and hang out in the living room, I cook a big breakfast, eggs, pancakes, bacon, sausage, etc. And we have fun watching the crowd do silly stuff on Gameday. During the game, my daughter loves to throw up her arms and yell "Touchdown!!!" Or "Kick is good!!!" And jump up and down and clap.

As a wise man once said: "These ARE the good ol' days."

Whether A&M ends up with a W or an L at the end of the day is probably the last detail I'll ever remember when I look back at these days. There's too much good going on in life to let an outcome of a game ruin such an incredible time.

Man, I can't wait for Saturday.
