While I don’t think Alabama is nearly as bad as it’s ranking would indicate, FSU is doing a great job of raising its academic perception and it’s definitely a step above all those schools you mentioned

I don’t know Auburn’s numbers.. but Alabama excepts nearly 70% of its applicants. UGA denies 60% of its.

So.. ITT people are coping with Alabama football and recruiting success by attempting to attack their education value.

Sad

And yet our attendance is up to 38k, we’re building housing on campus at a breakneck pace, and will be over 40k soon.

Bama wants to join the 50K club. Thats the word.
Student housing/condos are taking over on the east side of McFarland and I look for more Tutwiler's to be brought down and more housing on the campus side built.

I keep looking for those small units behind the strip to get bought up, torn down and a 5-10 story mega condo built in its place.

Yay, more bland, uber expensive condos/two story porchers replacing the heart of the student scene for more than 50+ years : single family homes between University/Bryant and 15th.

Hell let's just try and break 75K and give UCF a run for their money. More kids from Illinois and Connecticut, stat! We'll just add another 10-15% to out of state tuition and wallah!

Didn’t say it was a good idea George, just that I expect it.

I had to go to T-town for work on Monday, and I drove around the old stomping grounds a little bit. Its amazing to me some of the old shithole houses and apartments that have survived thus far considering the massive new development. Paty is still standing for Christ's sake.

Oh I know it, and I expect it too. I don't think anyone wants them to go back to 17,000 kids and 75% in-state like it was in 2002, but at some point there has to be a reflection point.

Total yearly cost for out of state kids at Alabama is $53K a year. That's not Vanderbilt or Georgetown, it's Alabama. That's absurd. And nobody cares at all, just keep building the grandest and gaudiest buildings and pools and dorms you can and passing the cost on down the line, then find some rich suburban families from Dallas/Chicago whose kids want to party at a fun SEC school to pay for it.

quote:

Instead of layoffs and cuts, some public universities facing budget challenges are following this blueprint for survival: higher charges to students, and more of them. Nowadays, the real money comes from tuition and fees. The average for four-year public colleges rose 81 percent in constant dollars between 2000 and 2014. At Alabama, tuition and fees have about doubled in the last decade, to $10,470 for residents and to $26,950 for nonresidents.

Yep, yes it does.

Those numbers are now $11,100 and $31,460, and soon to be higher.

The smart ones buy houses here and turn it into in state tuition.

I should know

A trick as old as time

More difficult to pull off these days, though.

Why?

Because you don't understand how that particular ranking system works?

Coming on a sports forum to attempt to talk down your rivals academics is pathetically childish. If you were serious about your thread, you would have taken it to an appropriate forum. Even the Off-Topic Board on this site would have been reasonable.
It leads me to believe that your worst fears about Auburn's football, and the distinct possibility of them being an Alabama "doormat" have caused your woes.
Try to have more respect for yourself, AND your school...you're thread is too simple and transparent to be construed any other way than "sour grapes".
