I don’t know Auburn’s numbers.. but Alabama excepts nearly 70% of its applicants. UGA denies 60% of its.

That is a huge drop. I know that they tried to recruit students from other States for a while and promised money for highly sought scholarships, but things went down hard for them.

I honestly have given up trying to figure out these rankings. I live in the state and I see the quality that comes out of UA, so I'm not concerned. Do AU people get erections everytime the US NEWS college rankings come out? It seems like you guys are the only ones that starts these kind of threads. Yet you guys were noticeably absent when the WORLD rankings came out a few months later and AU was second to last in the SEC in the rankings. Funny how that happens

I’m sorry, it’s like you have to use a computer with spell check and dial up. Must be to poor for a modern phone that auto corrects everything and makes mistakes.

I’m sorry for your situation.

I enrolled at Alabama in 2001. There were roughly 20,000 students. I think it was around 25,000 when I got my masters in 2006. To think it could be on the horizon of 50,000 students is hard to imagine.

What? You came in making fun of UA academic standards while saying “excepted” instead of accepted, I call you out on it showing the irony. Then you come up with that comment while also saying “to” instead of “too”? I didn’t realize I was talking to a moron. My apologies, carry on.

What if I were to tell you they are all imaginary in the end and just made up to make money?

I would say that you were correct. The “rankings” haven’t hurt UA recruiting quality students

It makes no difference in the end. It ain't about what you know, it's about who you blow.

Networking will take you a lot farther than a magazine ranking.

The best school is the one that you get a degree from with the least amount of debt.

Outside of the Ivy schools...plus MIT, Duke, Vandy, Stanford, Rice...and a small number of public schools like Virginia, Michigan and North Carolina...it doesn't REALLY matter where you go once you're in the real world.

Agree to some extent, but it can matter in a lot of different contexts, such as marketing/networking, and in some fields. Med school/post grad/law school university matters more than undergrad in a lot of circumstances. Then those become less significant than place of residency/fellowship or job experience for most fields as a career goes on.

They stopped trying to impress the most pathetic ratings in USNEWS which are flawed.

There are rankings that matter more.

Alabama is 6 spots higher than LSU in the rankings with 1 less recruit.

What's Wrong in Baton Rouge? Are the rumors that BK is a lazy recruiter coming to fruition?
This is deeply concerning.

"At a School that does not end a sentence at "at"..."

English ain't Latin! We can end sentences with prepositions if we want!

"The prohibition against clause-final prepositions is considered a superstition even by the language mavens, and it persists only among know-it-alls who have never opened a dictionary or style manual to check"
