I don’t believe that you are required to enter the draft if you have no eligibility remaining.
Players that have exhausted college eligibility are automatically entered into the draft pool and cannot opt out.
NFL Player Personnel Staff make the determination on eligibility.
The rule is there to avoid having players attempt to skip the draft and roll right into free agency.
I suppose if Trinidad’s court case extended beyond the NFL draft date, the NFL may not have cleared him with the pending ruling.

There is no documentation of medical treatment, injury reports, or a medical condition from Ferris State that explained why he didn't participate in 2022. Only "yeah, he saw our trainer and a local doctor who treated him."
There was never a medical redshirt and so the NCAA correctly declared he was out of eligibility. Ole Miss judge says nah, so he forgoes the draft.

the NFL! that is why! Even though many got screwed out of 5th year. Lucky ole Trinidad.
