Wait, let me get this straight.

A guy that played in 1 out of 3 national championships since 2000 isn’t a proven coach.

…but a guy that had a good run one year is?

Ole miss education, folks.

OU much like Bama is still adjusting to the end of a dynasty run. They had stoops and Riley run..which was a great one...but they haven't adjusted their expectations to the new reality yet..again much like Bama fans.

At least Bama was smart enough to go sign a proven winning head coach to replace their coach

The problem bama is gonna have with KdB, is that you will see the same issues that he had at Washington. He'd go out and beat a top 5 team, then turn around and lose the next week to someone unranked.

It is not easy to be this wrong in such a short statement.

The okies haven't won a title since 2000. OU is not ending a recent run as a dynasty.

OU and Bama are both coming to terms with a new reality, but it is not the one you suggested.

Both used to be in the small collection of programs that had institutionalized cheating for generations. Now that everyone can pay players, they are 2 poor schools in undesireable locations that didn't make the playoffs this year and likely never will again.

The amount of turnover they are having is not the sign of a healthy program. 7-5 or worse

Actually the majority of the turnover are the unhealthy guys...so...kinda like blood letting I guess.

They will be back because OU football is all that state has going for it except for the occasional spike in oil prices.

Sooner football is where the money goes. Whether in the age of NIL it can be funneled in an unethical manner to give the program its historical edge is another debate but their are lots of folks who are up at night over the current s$%t state of OU football.

Anything can happen if your young players mature and you get the right transfers. Indiana and Vandy proved that.

Its also obviouly not easy for you to take off your burnt orange shades and accept that the last 20 years OU has been a much better program that TX.

Most wins from 2000 to 2020 #3 is OU and #5 is Bama...so I'd say a 20yr run winning that many games is a dynasty regardless of the lack of NC in the trophy case.

So yes their new reality is the same one I suggest...both had an amazing run of 20 plus years winning more games that every other team, both lost their coaches and both are going to struggle not winning at a clip of over 80%.

I'd be worried, some defensive minded HC's just cannot get out of their own way when it comes to offense.

See: Les Miles
See: Ed Orgeron (Until he was fortunate enough to hire a phenom for a year)

Not who you responded to but I don't think there's any argument against OU having the better run this past decade .

That said, Bob Stoops aint walking through that door. Next year is going to be big in determining if Veneables thrives, survives, or OU plays coaching roulette again
