But the “Cigar Boys” don’t have enough enough power to dictate the coaching hire. That is the good news. They are vital for contributions, but they can’t hire a coach.

A much bigger threat is a Jimmy Raines or Paul Bryant, Jr. who does have enough sway to hire the coach. Those outside booster hires never work.

Mississippi State might foul this up. But at least it won’t be because there is one a-hole with too much money and too little sense about football to hire your coach hiring your coach.

By the way, hate to double post but just catching up.

How much have you contributed to the NIL? There is apparently a need. Step up and do your part. Or maybe you have. If so I am sure you will correct me.

It takes more than having a lot of money to have influence in a college football program.

It also requires a willingness to spend a sizable chunk of that money on the program.

That's some next-level web design:
- black & white logos
- logos displayed icon size
- logos forced align on the left of the page, leaving massive blank space on the right.

Brilliance! Why haven't the other SEC programs thought of this? What company wouldn't want to be included in that dull and barely visible grouping?

What about the Seal family?

The Seal family has donated at least 20 million to athletics since Mullen was hired. We have some alums who are worth far more than anc is insinuating. They are big oil people. People are slowly waking up though. We aren't the lowest in NIL either, not even second lowest now. But he's right about support. The academic side has seen a massive surge. State gets more academic money gifted than Ole Miss, but far less than them on the athletic side, outside of baseball. It's a matter of choice of organizational stewardship and education availability over football. It's hard for me to complain about that, really.

ANC assumes the $50,000 minimum donation means they only gave $50,000 toward NIL. I know there are some people who don’t want or need their names or company names splattered on some web site or Jumbotron. anc proves he rarely has any clue what he is talking about.

I usually agree with your posts and this was true a couple decades ago. Not anymore. We have some big money sports donors with net worths > 100 million

Ole Miss has the largest endowment in the state. And has recently raised close to $1.5B for academics.

MSU was the first to reach a billion + with this type of initiative. But nice going.

In before a State fan says that they send more people to UMMC. That’s fine and all but that’s the University of Mississippi. Keep linking up with the W if you want your own medical school

I hate to be the dweeb here but that is something to be proud of. Academics are supposed to be more important and life changing. Football is great. I love the entertainment. But it doesn’t change lives. Not many.

We’re literally on this site every day because we have football autism. Most people who have money want to make their state better through academics.

Look at who is good in sports, state schools. Not Ivy League schools who have endowments that shite on these Texas oil retards.

Why have our academics sucked so much arse? (Genuine question) We aren’t getting much bang for the buck there either. It’s been a steady decline from when I attended from what I understand, although there have been some infrastructure improvements, we are pretty low on most academic measurable compared to our sec brethren…maybe I’m misinformed

The Seal family is here to remind you that $150,000 is not $180,000.
