Y’all need to hit up Jimmy Sanders. He’s true maroon and sold his company for close to a billion dollars. He got life long Rebel fan Caleb Reed to go to State. (Mississippi state insiders know what I’m talking about)

Transfer portal and NIL will guarantee that 10 or so schools have any chance of competing at a national level. They just as well go to a 12 team playoff and eliminate the rest of the bowls.

Moron, bulldog club donations aren't listed there. Nor are large athletic donors. For a good reason.

It WAS happening at Ole Miss. But when Keith “9 inch” Carter told the good ole boys to hop on his train or get the frick off, they fell in line. They tried to force him to hire Mike McIntyre after we fired Luke, Carter wanted Kiffin though.
He’s the first AD in my lifetime that had the balls to stand up to the boosters and he has them under control now. And it’s why our collective had exploded the last few years.

He's not talking about Bulldog Club or direct athletic donors.

He's talking specifically about NIL

The Cigar Boys have a LOT bigger net worth than one million each. Some random guy with 3 convenience stores can have that. Half the doctors in Starkville could have that.

We absolutely could come up with $5 million pretty quickly for something big. Maybe not $50 million quickly, but State has spent hundreds of millions in athletic facilities improvements over the last 10-20 years.

State recently finished a capital campaign that raised a BILLION dollars.

We're not quite as poor as you think. Maybe we haven't spent it on NIL yet, but we can spend a good bit for a new coach (I read $6-8 million/year), and hopefully he can loosen some wallets for NIL. I think our old-minded fans initially resisted paying players but now are opening up to it.

exactly. which is dumb as hell. our athletic donors have deep pockets. the Howards from Laurel. Joe Frank Sanderson from Laurel. The Franklins of the Franklin Corp in Houston, MS, extremely large furniture manufacturer. The Leo Seal family gave $12 MM for the football complex.
The Duff brothers from Columbia, MS (Southern Tire Mart, Deepwell energy services, KLLM trucking company, Duff capital investors, TL Wallace construction, Courtesy Ford, and about 25 more pretty large subsidiaries) I could go on to make OP look more ignorant, but I think I made my point. NIL has zero to do with our "cigar boys". OP completely made his post up

you can be sure, no need to think. State's NIL has made leaps and bounds in just months. we are not bottom of the barrel. we are firmly middle of the pack. the OP'er is singing his song from the nosebleed section and has no earthly idear what he's talking about.

Carter bucked that some. Lot of the good ole boys didn’t want Kiffin, and they didn’t want Chris Beard.

At Mississippi State, there is a group of guys (The Cigar Boys). These are guys that have net worths of a million or so and run small/mid-size companies that together wouldn't have $100 million in revenue.

Oohhhh the lore of the "Cigar Boys".

As I recall, there are no names on the "sides" of Davis Wade but only banners of former players.
