Ray Goof Jim Donnan & Mark Richt all had illustrious coaching careers when they left UGA

As someone else said, going to auburn is like getting a 401K payoff retirement plan. But its not a place to be a great football coach.

The fact that auburn is actually generating this much conversation/reaction is surprising.

On the contrary, I’d say coaching at Auburn is a sound retirement strategy no troll intended.
Goff was far and away the worst coach but he’s got a 9 figure net worth.
Donnan is a goof, but a likable goof and he’s still in Athens and a big UGA supporter.
I think Richt moved back bc they had a really strong Church family in Athens and has strong support for Catherine in helping with CMR’s Parkinson’s. He’s beloved by the UGA faithful.
There was a great picture of Dooley, Goff, Donnan, Richt, & Kirby taken early this year. Kirby’s success has allowed a lot of Georgia fans a chance to forgive and appreciate Goff for being a great QB and DGD even if not a great coach.

Absolutely

Harsin was the first Auburn coach in many SECRant posters’ lifetimes to not win the SEC and/or have an undefeated season at Auburn. I know the insane booster narrative at Auburn has gone wild, but, save for Harsin, every Auburn coach since the Carter administration has had at least one extremely successful season at Auburn.

What I posted in the other thread for the same bullshite claim:
quote:
Pat Dye - SEC legend, multiple SEC titles
Terry Bowden - Undefeated SEC season
Tommy Tuberville - SEC title, undefeated season, should have had a shot at the NC, and now a US senator
Gene Chizik - National champion, SEC champion, coached a Heisman winner, stellar ESPN analyze career, back in coaching on his own accord
Gus Malzahn - SEC champion, national championship appearance
Bryan Harsin - Slept with Clesi
Not to mention, outside of Harsin and Bowden, every one of our head coaches have kept their families in Auburn after their tenure ended.
I think Lane will be okay

Again, we've made the careers of our last 4 coaches not including Harsin. We've also given them generational wealth and some hardware. This narrative just ain't gonna hunt baw.
Then why did every one decline post-Auburn if you “made the[ir] careers”?

We were the peak of their careers.
It’s an Auburn thing.
It’s an Auburn thing.

Fact is coaching there is usually the highlight of the coaches AU has hired

Since 1975, no Auburn HC had left under their own power.

How many of Georgia’s coaches left on their own accord during that time? Dooley?
You realize that’s not the nature of CFB coaching, right?

Are you kidding? It’s a revolving door over there

All were let go. Dooley retired to go into politics but changed his mind and returned as UGAs AD. Years later UGAs new president was reportedly jealous of his popularity and wouldn’t extend his contract as AD. Caused a real uproar. Over 70,000 signed a petition to fire Michael Adams, who unfortunately had political clout and kept his job

I love it when fans of teams that are currently on a hot streak act like they are the gatekeepers of college football. It’s hilarious.

AU hasn't lost a coach to another program and the coaches who were fired and went to another school, never match their accomplishments at Auburn.
This says it all: translation: former Auburn coaches aren’t good enough for better coaching positions and Auburn always hires under performers.

It's true. And we always get the best out of them when they are here. What's going to happen if we hire someone semi-competent?

Georgia’s little cakewalk is about to be over if Lane ends up at Auburn.
