nah she’s mentally ill. Only way that changes is if she gets the help she needs, and just as importantly, takes it.

Passed away 4 years ago. Kept at it until he died from what I heard.

She’s avoided arrest so far explicitly because she kept it within the bounds of the law. Apparently she finally crossed the line yesterday.

I haven't verified this, but the story is she was screaming so loud a police officer heard her on campus. He approached her to talk to her. I don't even think it was to reprimand her.

She walked away from him and continued screaming. He moved towards her and she kept ignoring him.

That's why he arrested her.

I agree with everyone here saying she needs to stop. It's obnoxious behavior, and it's bothersome how many in Auburn think she's endearing.

It ruins downtown for families coming in to shop and hangout. I don’t get why people support her either. Clearly she’s mentally ill like others have said.

I'm not sure how much of i is actually people supporting her vs it just becoming such a charicature and meme at this point. I think everyone recognizes the absurdity of it, but one of those things that has gone on for so long now it somewhat morfed for some from annoyance to just something to laugh about.

I was very happy I didn't hear her screaching last saturday. It was a much more pleasant time walking around Toomer's

They’ve been listening to her for years, but apparently this past week she’s gone way over the top.

Flead from Reddit:

quote:

The past week she’s been taking it up to 11, specifically Thursday around noon-ish I had the thought that she was crossing the line with how aggressive she was being with people directly. It was also the first time I’ve seen everyone crossing the street go significantly out of their way to avoid getting near her.

I was at Auburn as a student from 1982-1986.

Late in the winter quarter or maybe it was spring quarter, they would stand and call everyone “fornicators” for hours between the Eagle Nest and Haley Center.

They’d get all worked up and telling us how evil “all of you fornicators” are. Then they’d finish the set with “you will BURN IN THE LAKE OF FIRE!!!”

It got to be kind of comical to see the interaction sort of go awry. She’d call some guy a fornicator and some guy would say “not today, but I’m hopeful.”

One I remember was when Sister Cindy would say “I am a born again virgin” some guy said ,”can that be arranged on a weekly basis.”

It was sort of SNL skit on campus.

You are so right. It was absolute entertainment. Did you ever see dueling scriptures? Some student would pull up and then counter scripture with them and they would fling one back. pretty entertaining. Youtube of our day set to only one channel...LOL

I was too young for Jed and too old for Ruth.

But you really can’t avoid Ruth if you go anywhere near the corner these days. Pretty much every time I’ve gone for for work over the last four or so years, there she is.

Ruth sucks, yes she's an Auburn caricature at this point, but I'm happy she finally was removed. Downtown is so much nicer when she's not screaming. Just because she was tolerated for so long, doesn't mean we have to hold her in some kind of Auburn protected status. It would be so much nicer for her not to return, and we can move this to the chapter of, " Remember that crazy lady Ruth?" Along with other Auburn lore.

Good, get that psycho off the streets. She yelled directly in my kid’s faces when they were around 5 years old and made them cry. It took everything I had not to knock the hell out of her.

Yeah too bad they shut down the mental hospitals and dumped the people on the streets. Some of these folks need that mental help and that is the part that I am mad at about our gov is that they want to feed these political NGOs but yet won't help our citizens get the mental help they need.

I inadvertently hit Ruth last Saturday..

I had a couple of USM buddies with me. Trying to give them the true Auburn experience we had to hit up Toomers Drugs and grab a lemonade.

As you can imagine the intersection was pretty crowded. We were getting ready to cross the street after getting our lemonades and my friends were asking me about the oak trees. I turned to point to where the oak trees were located and I inadvertently popped Ruth in the head as she was walking by. Of course I apologized, as did she.

But I can say that my USM friends were pretty shocked by Ruth, they did not expect to encounter someone like her in downtown Auburn

She’s awful. I don’t get any of the “free Ruth” BS I’ve seen on Facebook. She needs to go…
