I would give Jimbo a b+. He won the games he was suppose to win and was competitive in games we should have no chance in.

We should have beat Clemson which knocks him down one letter grade

A- for Orgeron. Most people had us at 3-3 or 4-2 at this point, so I consider 5-1 to be exceeding expectations a bit. So far things are better than expected, the next month could change things, but that's where it's at now IMO.

Saban can't even coach defense anymore. We're basically a B12 team now. Gross.

We do have the two fattest coaches. If coaching were graded on BMI, both MS team’s coaches would get A’s.

Luke wears his obesity like a KA though.

Moorhead looks like an IT specialist from Scranton.

Losing by 2 to the #2 team in the country (at the time) isn't what drops him a letter grade for me. It's more about struggling with Arky. Still, B+ looks about right.

I used to have an English teacher who graded so hard and had to give such a curve, that he told everyone to shot for what he considered a "gentlemen's F". It was an F that was at least high enough to be a decent grade after a 30 point curve.
This being said, does Luke bump himself up to a gentlemen's F with a win over arky??

Coaching: C+, mainly because there is obvious improvement from the beginning of the season

Recruiting: A, amazing what he has been able to do with bad results on the field.

D. (Though I admit that's probably too harsh given the circumstances I'm also fricking over the circumstances).

First few games: Z----- (I know, first games get a hold of yourself, but still it was disgusting)

Post North Texas he's done much better, the improvement is significant.

I'm still not giving him a good grade til I see whether he can win- he can make them better that's obvious, but winning is a different thing. I don't expect many this season but I'd like to see a couple more at least.

So, until further info is available, C.

I am 100% grading on a curve. That curve is a new Head Coach taking over a 4-7 ball club that has had several years of no player development and no S&C program. My grade for Dan Mullen is an A. Hindsight being 20/20, the Kentucky loss isn’t as bad as it seemed at the time. That loss would have absolutely crippled Florida over the last 3 years.

When it comes to offensive stats- the numbers are nothing to write home about, but when you watch the games, the last 3 in particular, you see a stark difference in the game plan for each defense we’ve been against. Mullen has successfully masked our weak points, while exploiting the opposing defensive weaknesses. The in game adjustments and week to week game plans have been unreal.

Defensively, we are utilizing our athletes to the best of their ability and really letting guys fly around the football field. Admittedly, we haven’t faced an offense that has truly punished us for the blitzes outside of Kentucky. That being said, we were without 3 crucial players (Marco went down early, Cece was still in trouble and Reese hadn’t recovered from his injury), and I think that had as much to do with it as how Kentucky matches up with us. It will be interesting to see how Georgia gameplans for us, but with the success Kentucky had with the Snell/Wilson attack, I fully expect to see a lot of Justin Fields with those talented backs if we get to Fromm early and often.

Special Teams has been our Ace in the hole and will continue to allow us to be in any game as long as we don’t throw in the towel. I can’t say enough about what I’ve seen out of that group.

Again I have to hit on how crucial the S&C program Savage has brought over. The mindset and endurance is a complete 180 from years past. I had us at 4-2 preseason with losses to MSU and LSU, so I am very happy with this 5-1. Even though the loss was to Kentucky, we could very well be looking at a 10-2 wildcats come the end of the season with an OT loss at Kyle Field and potential home loss to UGA on the horizon. They have proven themselves to be a legitamite team this season.

If we can avoid the trap game at Vandy and navigate the rest of this season with only a loss to Kentucky, that would be an A+ season. If we drop to Georgia and win out, it’s still an A in my book. If this years team had Mullen the past 3 seasons instead of McElwain, you’re looking at a bonafide title contender no question.
