Fort Collins is more conservative in general than Boulder.
Have been a few times and it seems like a classic little liberal college town to me. It's closer to Wyoming but other than that I don't think it was particularly conservative.

Very similar to Auburn in the sense of the school aspect of it does lean left but the surrounding area is red. Like 99.9999% of college towns it’s going to lean left, just usually not as hard as Boulder

I’ve lived in College Station, San Marcos, and Athens and all of these towns were great but I think San Marcos is my favorite.
Love San Marcos. We might to go to see Arizona St play Texas St in week 2 and float the river

I went to Knoxville in 2017 and besides the fact that it rained sideways during the game, got cold as hell, and that I almost got beat up by a cop (long story)..... it was a great time.
I loved Lexington as well. My dad used to live in KY so we went to Lexington for a basketball game and a football game. We went to Keenland and that was something I will never forget.

Boone, NC in the fall is absolutely stunning.

Trying to see if I want to go to that game or UTSA. Both will be huge games and could be sell outs. AZ State will be a Thursday night prime time game on ESPN

Baton Rouge was the nicest by far.
It's a metropolitan shitehole city with a large football playing college attached to it on the Southwest side.
LSU has the "Nicest" game day atmosphere, but BR has been a shitehole ever since Katrina. (Not ALL areas of BR are shiteholes, but overall the city IS a shitehole)
Just stay south and west of I-12/I-10 and remain close to LSU to stay safe!

I have been in many college towns, several for games, I would say;
Favorite at the game city - Baton Rouge - LSU fans are rowdy and know how to party outside the stadium before the game, AND all my encounters with them tailgating were lots of fun. In the stadium on a Saturday night for an SEC opponent like Florida, Alabama, or Auburn is off the charts for excitement and noise.
Favorite for the scenery on game day - Knoxville - the mountains nearby, the river near the stadium, a beautiful campus, nice downtown area to walk in, a fall Saturday in Knoxville is great.
Favorite quintessential SEC college town - Auburn - biased because I live here, but it is a great college town and everyone has fun on game day. Other college towns that felt almost the same to me are Athens and Oxford.
Other college towns that I have visited are:
Fort Collins - okay, but not as good as several SEC towns, going up into the Colorado mountains is nice though
Gainesville - nothing special to me, and it was too hot
Tuscaloosa - some nice places to eat and a nice campus
Birmingham-do not go to a college game downtown in this city, not safe now
Louisville - some interesting things to see and good places to eat, but found some areas of this town to be sketchy at best
Lexington-okay, just not memorable for me, driving through the surrounding countryside saw a lot,of nice horse farms
Boston - too much of a big city
Storrs - nothing there besides the university

I love Oxford, obviously, but the campus is separate from the town so I've always envied Auburn because the town and campus are one in the same. As a student, you can walk out of your dorm, cross the street and get a Domino's Pizza. You don't even need a car at Auburn. I always thought that was pretty cool.

My favorites besides Gainesville are:
Madison, Wisconsin. The campus of Univ of Wisconsin is right beside Lake Mendota. Really nice town and campus.
Chapel Hill, NC
Ann Arbor, MI
Athens, GA
Auburn, AL
College Station, Tx- The town is not as scenic as some of those mentioned above, but it’s a great college town with friendly people. And my kiddo is really happy there, so that earns it a spot on my list.

Athens in the SEC by far.
Elsewhere, Chapel Hill and the Notre Dame campus. Not the city of South Bend, Indiana, it's an absolute silage pit of a city, the Notre Dame campus.

Boone, North Carolina in the fall is absolutely awesome. Just an awesome time at App State.
Of the SEC campuses I’ve visited, Oxford

I never got that actual perception from Oxford. More adjacent to town rather than separate. MSU seems the same way actually.

Me & my buddies do an away game every season. Fayetteville, AR back in 2022. Fantastic college town. It even snowed while we there.

Gainesville, been there over 150 times for Gator football games and there is no place I would rather be.
