usually comes out to be around 22-25% of the Florida population identify as Gator fans. That's pretty sizeable for a state this large. That would be somewhere in the neighborhood of 5 Million fans just in Florida, which is larger than the total population of many SEC states.

UF also has more beat writers covering them than any other SEC school by far... Jacksonville,Miami,Orlando,Tampa and Gainesville all have guys assigned to the Gators.

Here are a few maps I've looked at before that give a general idea. Both maps are interactive, down to the county level. The first is from 2014, so these numbers might only be half-truths (ex. Clemson not yet winning a NC).

MAP #1 (College Football Fan Distribution)

MAP#2 (Season Ticket Sales)

I wouldn't say that, the diehard ULL people with little brother syndrome are a small minority, just very vocal

Yeah I’m calling bs here. Have you ever actually lived in that town? Every restaurant and bar you go to is full of ULL stuff. You’re lucky is a local establishment has LSU stuff and when they do, it’s still way out numbered by Cajuns stuff. The business owners try too hard to act like LSU doesn’t matter in Lafayette. It’s ridiculous because it’s actually a pretty cool town and isn’t far from Tiger stadium.

I agree, there are bars/restaurants with LSU stuff, but it's usually not as prominently displayed as UL's: they're probably tired of hearing from the penis envy segment of ULL fans, but said group is small, just look at their attendance

Alabama is more like 70/30. Auburn has more actual alumni, but bama has the sidewalk fans.

Auburn has a higher percentage of fans that are alumni, yes. More...nope

Unfortunately, the Auburn fan was correct to say that they have a greater number of alumni in state. From post WW 2, Auburn enrolled a higher number of students, and I know that at least since the 80s, it enrolled more students from Alabama. That ended in 2006, when UA started enrolling a larger number of students from within Alabama, but Auburn went back to enrolling more in state students in actual numbers by the mid 2010s. UA is taking steps to change this thank God.

Having grown up in Montgomery, I would say it is slightly majority Alabama fans while Bama is doing great, and slightly majority Auburn when Auburn is doing great. Lots of out of state military folks in Montgomery, and I think they tend to favor Auburn cause it does not bear the state name.

Anecdotal I know, but I seem to notice lots of Bama students from places like New Jersey on social media. I don't think this is the case for Auburn

Yeah, and it's something that catches some of our new hires off guard. Some were better at adapting than others.

The map from 538 shows the Wisconsin Badgers as top 3 ticket sales in numerous south Louisiana parishes including a couple that are adjacent to Baton Rouge.

I've gotta to call bullshite on their poll. I've never met a Wisconsin fan in south Louisiana much less a ticket holder.

Atlanta metro is obviously a mixed bag. Mostly UGA, then I'd say Auburn second, followed by Alabama, then UT, then USCjr.

Same for Memphis area... Ole Miss seems to be the most popular team at least in Gtown/Collierville. Strong Arkansas and Mississippi State presence too. UT presence not as strong.

Nashville is mostly UT but a scattering of other SEC teams here and there. East of Nashville to the NC mountains is 100% Vol territory. I've seen Tennessee garb as far east as Charlotte.

A few scattered U of L fans around the state but not many. Even in Jefferson County as you get in the burbs it gets much bluer. UK is statewide. You see Kentucky shirts and hats everywhere you go from the Big Sandy River down to the Mississippi.

You might want to try and visit somewhere besides Tuscaloosa county next time you visit Alabama.

I'd imagine that is from the game at Lambeau? Its not season ticket holders, just tickets bought through Vivid Seats.

That makes sense.

It's not a good indicator of a team's fan base.
