college towns

Amazing a panel of "experts" don't even know what the hell they're voting on.

People who come here for football games don't ever actually visit the city of Columbia, except for the shitty chain restaurants they eat on the way out of town.

Hell, 95% of the away people who have attended a game at USC never step foot on campus.

I didn't think about that. The location of the stadium does suck.

IMO Nashville is the best place to visit that has an SEC college, but it is not a college town. I'm not even sure I would count Baton Rouge, Knoxville, and Columbia SC as college towns either.

Other than that I think the list isn't too bad, except Fayetteville should be a couple of spots higher.

Yeah that's pretty crazy. Tuscaloosa is less of a shite hole than it used to be, but it's still far from a "nice...small town"

Tuscaloosa is probably the nicest of the true SEC small towns.
As I stated, the Alabama campus is beautiful.

However, the surrounding city is an abomination and calling it a ghetto would do justice.

I think Lexington is the second largest SEC town.

Lexington is underrated on this list.

It's better than Columbia and way better than Auburn.

Auburn has a nicer campus than Mississippi St, but they are about the same as far as college towns go.

AU should probably ranked 13.

Everyone is always so complimentary of Athens in these threads.

I have nothing to argue, no one to fight.

It's so lonely at the top.

We play in the warehouse district near some of the more shadier neighborhoods in the city.

Your cops are assholes and you have a homeless problem. Athens sucks.

Just kidding (first two things hold true though).

You're pretty dumb. But I had fun in Lexington once. To rank Lexington higher, you'd really need to include surrounding scenery and advantages (Keeneland), which have nothing to do with the college town aspect of the city.

Keeneland has everything to do with the college experience in Lexinngton.

Athens is definitely a shite hole overall. But the downtown area is so fun that it makes up for it in a way that isn't as true for Baton Rouge, Knoxville, Tuscaloosa, etc.

I really have no idea how Baton Rouge is that high. Columbia is FAR superior to Baton Rouge.

That's the one that stands out to me as being way too high.

The only cool thing about BR is proximity to NOLA.

Not seeing it. I like Keeneland, but it surpasses anything fun about the University of Kentucky. It's the same problem you have in ranking Nashville, although Nashville is superior to Lexington in most every other way.

Don't worry, we will have another facilities thread with that micro IPF picture soon enough.
