I'll add, I think LSU fans had a run of LF, Darius Guice type talents in the backfield that relying on a good, but not great RB out of high school was foreign.
CEH has proved a lot of people wrong, and I think he is making himself a lot of money this year.

1st and only freshman at Catholic High to play on varsity, and that includes Derrius Guice and Warrick Dunn.
So happy for Clyde.

I remember seeing him for one play against Texas A&M the year Guice was our main back. I want to say he caught a swing pass and made a nasty move on the defender to get a nice gain. From that point on I thought he was a Guice clone (just a bit shorter).
He didn't show a ton last year but it looks like experience has done a lot for him. I'm not sure if he is seeing the holes better or if he just gained confidence but whatever it is, its working.
I have to think the field being spread out has helped him a ton.

I knew this kid personally in high school - was the strongest kid on the team in a damn strong program - lot of heart - He has benefitted from some good coaching and from an offense that utilizes him perfectly

It's funny a few years ago I asked somebody if Clyde-while he was still in HS, if he was another Guice coming out of Catholic, guy who knows his stuff said, I don't know if he's LSU material.
He's always had to fight against his size. So glad LSU gave him a chance, guy is a warrior.

There's no doubt. Fournette or Guice in this offense would something to watch.

Honestly most LSU fans expected Emery or TDP to be starting by now, typically giving CEH the load at first and slowly giving more carries to one of the freshmen. He obviously had other plans.

[quote]Did the kid just work his arse off and get better? His combination of feet, vision, hands and strength is fantastic. I love watching him run (except against my team, obviously).
He ALWAYS had the combination of feet, vision, hands and strength. Being that I saw Clyde play as a youth football player playing for the Scotlandville Hornets at the age of 10, you could see the potential. Hell, he was a one man wrecking crew then. lol.
Les Miles put all his eggs in the Cam Akers basket, and had Clyde and Travis Etienne as next. Clyde committed early to LSU and Travis waited. And the rest is history. Once Miles was fired, Coach O tried to get back on Travis, but it was too late. In the state of Louisiana, some services has Clyde rated ahead of Etienne others had Etienne ahead of Clyde. I think both made the best decision for themselves.

And Etienne wasn't super highly rated either, was he?
Both kids are going to get paid, I know that much.

Almost everyone underestimated him because he lacks top end speed. Always been a good player in space. I always thought he was nothing more than a situational player.

I wasn't high on him at the beginning of the season. I was so damn wrong. The guy is rightfully going to shoot up draft boards.

He reminds me a little of Dalton Hilliard, George. Also a little of Darren Sproles.
Also, he has Curry, Emery and Davis breathing down his neck :)

I think Etienne was still a 4 star recruit. He may not have been in the top 10 RB's in the class but he still was rated pretty high.

Etienne came on late. He finished as a 4*.
CEH was a 3* that was overlooked by many.

That may have been it - the came on late part.

He always was a hard worker
He is from a very involved family .parents and siblings very supportive and tight family values which reflect in his daily life and work ethics
They all had dreams and supported him as he worked toward them

Did you get a chance to re-run those awesome metrics you were posting last week?
Posted on 11/11/19 at 11:33 am to red sox fan 13
Watched him at Catholic where he would make people look stupid. I am not sure people should be surprised. He showed people what he could do last year against UGA. He was really the reason we won that game.

Yep - the only difference was the Yards Per Point, which I pretty clearly said was by far the volatile aspect along with turnovers and could easily swing the game 7-14 pts.
Expectation
Alabama 38 - LSU 30
Alabama
6.79 YPP
12.54 Yards Per Point
LSU
6.84 YPP
15.53 Yards Per Point
ACTUAL
LSU 46 - Alabama 41
Alabama
7.90 YPP
13.05 Yards Per Point
LSU
6.80 YPP
11.67 Yards Per Point
Difference
Yards Per Play
Alabama : +1.11 more than expected
LSU : -0.04 less than expected
Yards Per Point
Alabama : 0.51 more yards per point (bad)
LSU : 3.86 less yards per point (good)
If you plugged in the yards per point that actually happened with the expected yards per play you get
LSU - 40
Alabama - 36
