Edwards-Helaire is fantastic - what is the story on his transformation?

Did people think he had the chance to be this type of player when he was signed? I know the video at the Opening or whatever against Moses, but when he came in what was the expectation level? Obviously the change in offense played perfectly into his skill set, but his skill set would still play well in the previous offense as well I'd think.

Did the kid just work his arse off and get better? His combination of feet, vision, hands and strength is fantastic. I love watching him run (except against my team, obviously).

he has perfected the spin move. he's always been a grinder that is tough to bring down.

Cole Cubelic this morning:

Clyde Edwards-Helaire rushed for 3 TD & had 4 total TD from scrimmage against Alabama.

The first time for both vs Bama in the Nick Saban era.

He has outstanding vision at the line. He finds hikes, waits for blockers, and rarely goes down for a loss.

His quick change of direction and ability to still be powerful right after he makes a move is unbelievable.

That catch and run on 3rd down was one of, if not the, play of the football game. Great catch, great move and strong finish. He broke my spirits with that one

He really has been great from the start. Had a few fumbles early in the year and of course the TR started screaming for Emery

He bore the brunt of fans' hatred at the beginning of the season, but he's been pretty good all year if you watch his stats.

I liked the last first down he picked up of the game.

But that’s for obvious reasons.

Some might say he runs with a killer instinct now.

Seriously tho, he makes great cuts, refuses to go down, and that spin move is next level.

I'll be the first to admit, I thought he would be quickly passed on the depth chart this season by one of the talented freshman, but he has proved myself and several others wrong. The kid is special.

He is so ready for an NFL offense.

Picks up pass rushers better than any college RB.

Pretty much. He definitely has taken a huge step forward this year over his first couple of years on campus.

He'll never outrun you but his power and shiftiness (while there were some flashes his first two years) have really gone to the next level this year.

Honestly no. The knock on him was always to small to be an every down back. At some point this season, he stopped believing that press and put his game into a different gear. I think it was Florida. He went off on Florida. Then Auburn.

CEH today is not the CEH that played against Vandy. I thought he peaked at Florida, then he went off on Auburn. I really thought he peaked against Auburn but he brought his game to an entire different level against Bama. He was not going to be denied Saturday night.

CEH has turned into everything I thought LF7 or Guice was going to be against Bama. CEH has surpassed those two players in my mind. He is not the traditional transformative talent, but I was ready to give him the Heisman Saturday night.

He is Sunday talent running a Sunday system on Saturday.

Knew Clyde from back in his HS days. He's always been good, and has had a chip on his shoulder because of height. He has also gotten better every year he's been at LSU. The difference Saturday is he just showed it off to national audience.

Yea - gonna be a great NFL back. Pass blocks, great in space, catches the ball out of the backfield, great vision.

Reminds me so much of Josh Jacobs, even down to the attitude with which they run.

Yeah probably was the play of the game.

I remember seeing him for one play against Texas A&M the year Guice was our main back. I want to say he caught a swing pass and made a nasty move on the defender to get a nice gain. From that point on I thought he was a Guice clone (just a bit shorter).

He didn't show a ton last year but it looks like experience has done a lot for him. I'm not sure if he is seeing the holes better or if he just gained confidence but whatever it is, its working.

Edit: This is the play. 5:00 mark
