Well, that is not quite true. I remember a college football show with an ex-Texas football player that was pretty bend up about it (horns down.) Spent about 10-15 minutes of a 30 minute show complaining.
You will find SEC fans, unlike Big 12 fans, are pretty up to speed.

players will just do the regular horns sarcastically, right? sure flag a guy if he shoves horns down in the face of a QB he just sacked, but if they call it for a player flashing it to the crowd after a TD, that's outright pathetic and UTA should be embarrassed

I recall years ago a UGA player got called for mocking the gator chomp after a big play. The SEC already calls penalties for mocking or showboating or unsportsmanlike whatever they call the penalty this week.

Texas don't care about the Horn's down, it's just that it is really pathetic when players or fans from other teams do it on National TV when they aren't even playing Texas. It's like admitting the Horns live rent free in their heads.

If you knew anything about college sports you would know except with a few exceptions, (recent CWS) the Horns down, has been largely been an issue in the Big 12...and the Texas Karen’s bitched and demanded penalties. Had nothing to do with playing A&M.

Horns down is a way of life in Oklahoma and talk crap 365 days a year, they are and always will be OUr main rival. Btw it's 10:08 on 7-16-22 and texass still SUCKS.

In reality is it is about the "taunting" rule, not anything else. If the ref thinks it is taunting or part of an excessive celebration, it will be called, if not it won't. So in essence just don't direct at Texas players or sidelines until after the game.
