so the school and alumni base have money.
they just don't always sink it into athletics

I don’t know if the Frist family cares about athletics, but they are richer than the Haslam’s.

The Vanderbilt Chancellor is big on athletics. Money is not an issue.

I’d ask for my NIL to be put into a fund managed by some Vandy finance bro and live off the interest for the rest of my life.

Pavia doesnt have a snowballs chance in hell of playing in the NFL, so I can't really blame him for trying to get milk his football career for as long as he can.

Yep - and to some extent that should matter to Vandy football IMO
In perhaps a different year, I feel like Vandy putting out that they'll pay north of 3m for a 1 year QB rental would get some bites from dudes who may be better than Pavia AND have a future (which could benefit Vandy).
Pavia was good for Vanderbilt (he's Auburn's nemesis no question) - but I don't think is the type of guy who resets the narrative for being a QB at Vanderbilt, becomes some ambassador for Vanderbilt football, etc. In other words, it's a lot of money for what he is.
But Auburn probably put that number on the street and couldn't get a big fish to jump, and I'm not sure Vanderbilt wants to risk him walking. Tough spot.

Didnt he get another year? or is that next year?

That’s crazy. He wants Mateer money.

Money isn't an issue for Vandy alums. Care and concern are.

He's not worth that.

Very wealthy alumni base but who knows if they pony up for football?
The question is should they? The guy is good and is a dude but he ain't great and he ain't exactly what one thinks of as a QB who finds a way to win....they lost 6 games and a couple of those were against inferior competition that Vandy usually would beat....

Better options for 3M.

Serious point
The kid doesn't have a future in the NFL. He's going to try to make the most of his last year in college, which is understandable but I'm not sure anyone else would be willing to pay him that amount.

We're going to see major football programs in major cities have more NIL money to play with. Nashville businesses can more than spread that $3 mil around plus Latinos are only growing in prominence. Pavia has a LOT of marketability.

What if they say, No... His coach likely isn't leaving.
