Hey dildo, our first Heisman winner accepted his Heisman in his marine uniform.

Brigadier General Robert Neyland has arrived in this thread. Left his coaching position at Tennessee not once, but twice to serve his country. Tennessee did not field teams for the time mentioned until he returned. He was the epitome of a true Tennessee Volunteer. Even as a Navy veteran and fan of the Midshipmen, I have nothing but respect for Coach Neyland!

Let me guess, you're a fan of our current sitting president who notoriously dodged the draft.

Leave it to Kentucky to be behind the times. Like that building!

Art Deco was before the war, but UK built it after the war. Has a lot more personality than Rupp Arena.

The Navy Preflight Training School was at UGA.
In case you were unaware, pilots had to train before they sacrificed everything for their country and colors during WWII.

There were well over 100 Navy Preflight Training schools in the country at during that time.

Oklahoma had one. Oklahoma also had a Naval Air Station located right next to the campus (it is part of campus now). They had a football team at the Naval Air Station. In 1943, OU beat the Naval Air Station. In 1944, OU had graduated guys off of their team into the Navy. Some of the guys on the OU team of '43 were assigned to the Norman Naval Air Station... and they played for the NAS... And they beat OU in 1944.

Interestingly, the air station had two parts. The one I described was south of Norman. Called South Base. One was Norman was called North Base. The Lloyd Noble Center is on the old South Base. The new arena OU is going to put up will be on the North Base.

Interesting fact:

Bill Clinton, Barack Obama and Joe Biden never served in the military either, but you never hear anybody mention this. I wonder why?

President Biden was able to avoid military service, much like former presidents Trump and Clinton.

Biden received medical exceptions and student draft deferments while attending the University of Delaware and Syracuse University.

Clinton was drafted into the War in Vietnam yet was able to defer military service in order to attend Georgetown University.

Obama, like many of the previous presidents who didn’t serve in the military, took the route of law school instead.

That said, this is not the poli board.

So I've referenced LSU 6 times in the past four months? That's your "gotcha"?

p.s. no one cares about your latest soon-to-be-fired head coach.

Wait until OP realizes The Army and Naval Academies fielded football teams during WW2. Were they cowards too?
