LSU decided to play. Bad optics.
They decided t field a team with freshman not old enough to be drafted and other players that were discharged by the draft board.

I never said there weren't war heroes out there. Every school had war heroes and we remember them for it. We're talking about the SCHOOL fielding a FOOTBALL team while there was a WAR going on. It's bad optics. Period.
You called the players on those teams draft dodgers…many of them were drafted and served. That’s because you are a moron and seemingly suffering because your school is an abject failure at football. You shouldn’t take football so serious that it causes you to besmirch the reputations of men who fought for your freedom.

I think you take that too seriously. We're talking about optics of the schools fielding teams during WWII.
It's not a good look. Period.

Then take out the two inaccurate statements in your OP. These weren’t draft dodgers or cowards.
Talk about the optics, not the men, better than a sniveling cocksucker like yourself, who served with honor from those teams.

you know who else fielded teams?
Army and Navy. THE two service academies fielded teams yet you think it was "bad optics" for state universities to do the same because some others chose not to? You realize it wasn't out of some deference to the war effort some colleges chose not to play right? It was that they didn't want to deal with the roster issues the war caused so they just said frick it. Others didn't. It's not that deep.
You may also want to educate yourself that the 1943 season had 59 teams comprised solely of people in active military service that competed against other college football teams.
The entire Big 10 played. The Big 6 played, most of the independents played, the Southern Conference played. Notre Dame played. USC played. UCLA played.

We're okay with teams claiming national championships before the 1950s, but this is not okay?
Why do you care?? Again.. we're you alive in 1943?? Did draft dodging affect you being drafted or raising your hand to serve in the Armed Forces?

OP.... if you were alive in 1943, then you should care. If not, then STFU because it doesn't matter.
So the fanbase who lives in the past (second only to the sips) suddenly doesn't care about the past.

No one should have played. I am aware there were many teams that played that year. I was talking about the SEC.
I am more praising the 7 SEC schools that decided not to field teams (they could have done the same thing as Georgia, LSU, and Vandy, but decided not to, to your own point).
For those players that eventually wound up going into service, great.
This is mostly a bash to Georgia for having their upperclassmen the year before and winning a national title that they gladly claim, while other schools suffered the same issues in 1942 that they faced in 1943.
To your point, it's not that deep nor an actual knock to the players that wound up going into service anyway.

I'm sure everyone schools has those that skipped being drafted but only an obsessed would go search for that.
And again, it was the draft.... why do care?

but it's cool if you fielded teams during WW1 when other schools did not?

Eh, I am not going to research every person on those squads, but I am sure some of this is true.

ForeverGator is low character, he’s shown that. How people respond when they are wrong is a good way to judge them. He’s likely some shitstain chomo.
