I would think the attorney would be like "I wouldn't do this. It's a bad look."

Maybe he did and they just didn't listen.

The thread would be 70 pages long if Bryce Young had sent a C&D to Bama

Bad look for Lane burning a bridge with LSU player alumni.

Quite the opposite in that it’s a bad look for Daniels burning a bridge with LSU.

He made a few thousand dollars to write some letters and emails and make a few phone calls. No skin off his arse.

I really dont love LSU, or Kiffin but its a bad look for JD

IMO you can't be a transfer, and opt out of a bowl game and expect the school to retire your number after 2 years....

Legally it would appear Daniels lawyer doesn't have much to stop it except hoping making this public pressures LSU.

Feel like this is just a money grab from someone. Dude was good but not sure why he thinks his number would be unused. Shoot, Arkansas still uses #5 and DMAC certainly deserved it to be retired in my opinion.

If he had played in the bowl game would it be okay for the school to retire his number after 2 years, despite him being a transfer?

Colorado seems to think so

This is just stupid. Teams have already realized you can't keep retirinig numbers unless we start using triple digits.

I honestly feel sorry for him and his family. Makes them look like complete buffoons.

They'll throw Daniels under the bus easily. This is just stupid.

Jayden has no legal standing with respect to use of his number. He also likely has no legal standing with respect to use of his NIL since his NIL deal is now expired.

Daniels number isn’t retired, it’s just an understanding apparent Kelly had with him

Kelly apparently had ubderetandings with him and the kid he promised.his number to..

Kelly looks like an idiot and Daniels looks like a petty child.

His attorney on this is Adam Kenner so not sure about the level of counsel he might provide Daniels. He is trying to make a name for himself in this area and he may have advised this just to get his name our there. Kenner is also a Florida graduate.

If Daniels had proper advice, he would have been told that any benefir, were this Cease and Desist to be honored, was overweighed ten to one by the negative press generated.

Why didn't Pickett wear #5 under the prior regime then?

Sources told ESPN that Daniels feels he is being treated differently than Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow,
which QB won a national title playing his final game in his LSU jersey -

and which QB sat out the Reliaquest Bowl instead of playing his final in his LSU jersey?

quote:

"Jayden and his family had every reason to believe that his number would remain a meaningful part of his LSU legacy and would be honored and protected in recognition of his extraordinary contributions to the university."
like sitting out the Reliaquest Bowl ?

leading both his teams to 0-1 records to start the season - losing to FSU both times ??

or losing 7 of the 26 games he put his LSU jersey on ???

which of these extraordinary contributions ?
