That's no way to talk about the next coach of the Vols.

May have already been asked, but is this top 25 teams at the time MSU played them, or top 25 teams at the end of the season??

I see CDM keeps getting hammered for his record against the top 25 (6-32).
Honestly outside Saban, Meyer and may be a few other coaches, who is going to have a great record against the best of the best?
Even with that his overall record is 68-45. So that means he is 62-13 against teams outside the top 25.
This year he is 2-3 against teams that were ranked when State played them. At least I think A&M may have been ranked when we played them. Not bad overall. The three teams we have lost to are top five/ten teams and either of the three could win a Natty this year.
So I think he gets scrutinized pretty hard here but is probably similar to a lot of other coaches as well.

hat is pretty good for Miss State. You fricking idiot
Paul Johnson is 12-21 against ranked teams at Georgia Tech. I would think GT is more difficult to attract talent to than Miss State. Does that mean Paul Johnson is a better coach than Dan Mullen? I don't buy into the belief that Dan Mullen's record would be that much better at Florida or Tennessee.

Mullen has accomplished much more as a coach than Scott Frost.

He coaches at Miss State.
Those six wins are the stuff of legend there.

Dan Mullen was never offered the UF job and that's a fact. He's been there almost a frickING decade. Man you guys have no expectations.
Are you one hundred percent sure about that?

Where will y'all end up this year? Or next? Or the rest of this decade with no scholarships to give out and no bowl games to go to?

Paul Johnson is a tremendous coach. Maybe he is better than CDM. I don’t know.
What is his record against teams outside the top 25?
Possibly he does not prepare his team as well for lower ranked teams.
Again I do not know.
He is a good coach though.

You damn right we would. He's a second tier coach
Tell me why Florida failed to get a 1st tier coach the last two times? You expect this time will be a 1st tier head coach? List here the name of 1st tier coaches that Florida will be hiring from that will be Florida next head coach?

Without looking, my guess is that two or three of those Top 25 wins have been against Ole Miss. And one was against LSU this year.
A&M was ranked when we beat them this year as well. And we beat them last year when they were ranked 4th.
#8 LSU in 2014, #6 A&M 2014, #2 auburn 2014. And yea 1 or 2 were ranked ole miss teams

How would you know that? Mullen might not do well under pressure like at Florida.

Well he started out like 1-25 or something like that so he’s been good recently.
Well how about Barry Odom? How would you judge him since he is very new to being a head coach and have finally turning things around after a sluggish start and firing the DC earlier this year and slowly got the defense to play better. That is the kind of a coach most would want to see and hopefully will continue to get better every year. Mullen is doing it very slowly but making it worth while.

Understand your point about Odom for sure, but would like to see it more from him over a longer period of time. Also needs to perform against teams that aren't complete dumpster fires before giving him praise.

Beating an overhyped NC State, Louisville, or whoever the hell else sneaks into the bottom of the rankings from the ACC is nothing like running the Alabama, Auburn, LSU, A&M, Ole Miss gauntlet every year. Comparing wins and losses by teams in different conferences over the course of several seasons is problematic because not all teams are equal and they vary strength-wise year over year. Petrino's last year at Arkansas, every team in the SEC West was in the top 25.
Play the SECW gauntlet every year and then get back to me on what Paul Johnson's W-L record would be against top 25 teams.

Mullen told Florida he wasn't interested.

MSU could name the score against UF right now. No coach is going to instantly fix that. Stop expecting them to just because "We're Florida"

No, he wasn't offered the job. It never got to that point. He told them he wasn't interested.
For the third time this decade.
Perhaps they will take the hint three years from now when they are looking for their next coach.
