I'd take Burrow and it's not close.

Brees had a higher YPA than both in college.

Brees wasn't running on glass like Tua, nor was he playing against SEC defenses like Tua and Burrow.

At the 2001 combine, Brees ran a 4.83 40. I think both Tua and Burrow will run slightly faster (4.75-4.8 range).

Tua was elite as a freshman and never got any better. That’s a hell of a lot more alarming than going from “great” to “best college QB ever” as a senior. Burrow is still improving, Tua has hit his ceiling. Cowherd is a fricking moron who never played sports and doesn’t understand them.

Cowherd didn’t even know Burrow was an OSU transfer

He found out on air, while interviewing Urban Meyer, who recruited Joe

Yeah that’s the reason someone should choose Tua over Burrow...Burrow is older

I mean more Big 10 defenses finished the year ranked in the top 25 than SEC defenses.

I guess Drew Brees sucks under pressure too? Tua wasn't even in the top 5 for QBR under pressure

so let me think about this.

Nevermind that Joe Burrow wasn't good enough to play at Ohio State but some LSU fans said he was so mediocre (57% completion pct) his junior year at LSU because wide receivers dropped so many passes and the offensive line didn't block well. So Burrow wasn't to blame for being mediocre that year, but gets the credit for being great the next year, in spite of the fact he's playing with mostly the same receivers and linemen. How does that work?

My contention is that Burrow wasn't as bad as his junior year indicated (never mind he wasn't good enough to play at Ohio State), and he isn't as good as the senior year indicates. My contention is that Joe Brady was very good at scheming a game plan for the opposition and getting receivers open.

Now, during the season some LSU fans pretty much admitted that Brady was in fact due to the turnaround. Now that he's one and done in Baton Rouge, though, some of those same LSU fans say that Brady actually wasn't all that, and in fact Ensminger was the offensive coordinator and will carry on as well without Brady the Boy Wonder. This, in spite of the fact that Ensminger was the O.C. before Brady's one and done in Baton Rouge lightning in a bottle year.

Is that about right? Did I forget anything?

wrong answer. I said he was good.

edit: well, not bad as the junior year indicated and not as good as the senior year indicated averages out to not great but good

Well for starters, Burrow arrived at LSU in August and started immediately. Do you think QBs can just hop into a system, without having prior experience in it, and excel immediately? Burrow is one of those run-first QBs where you can just read the field & run when there is a gap. He had to actually learn a scheme. As for lineman, it was the biggest question mark coming into the season. The lineman did well, but the award they received was solely on Burrow's production. Fans might tell you otherwise, but the LSU OL was not very good this year.

Brady came in & gave tremednous insight, in addition to Esminger's prior knowledge. Brady is gone, but the forumla is there & Esminger knows it now. If you look at the 2nd half of the year Burrow's junior year, you start to see what Esminger wanted all season, but it took time for Burrow to get acclimated.

No, but I don't expect a narrow-minded gump to capture all that information.

I hate LSU and LOVE to troll them but I believe my eyes... Tua has more raw talent. His accuracy, quick release, and mechanics are damn near perfect but I give Burrow a slight edge... It's kinda like comparing Tom Brady to Peyton Manning. Joe is just a stone cold killer, with ice running through his veins... That MF is so damn slippery and cool in the pocket. Burrow reminds me of Joe Montana but MUCH more slippery in the pocket. You can't go wrong with either but if I'm a GM, I'd take Burrow over Tua right now... He has that IT factor that you can't teach..

Montana is a great comparison. He floats in the pocket like Montana. The "it" factor is the most important trait of an NFL qb.

Hey, frick you, Bammer.

I've got several quotes from you saying he wasn't good.
