Oregon repeatedly running straight at Fairley in the title game.

They were trying to option him out of the play and kept fricking it up lol.

I don't think Tebow could, he wasn't the freak athlete Cam is/was.

Mizzou stays catching strays

In 2010? No they didn’t.
We did. Without Antoine Carter and Fairley’s heroics in 2010 we would have likely lost that Iron Bowl. Two forced turnovers that would have absolutely been points without them.
Cam won the game. They set the stage.

Also still 100% certain Bama had our signs in the first half of that iron bowl. Which is on us, not them. If you’re telegraphing your shite that’s on you to correct it.

They both had very good defenses.
Offense wins games, defense wins championships.

Fairly was like 30 years old in college at the time

Mike Vick is probably the most dangerous qb I’ve ever seen in terms of how good he could make a terrible roster. I think if you stuck him on a bottom feeder p4 school like Purdue Duke vandy wake northwestern they’d make the playoffs. Honestly they could probably push for a title in two years in today’s climate.

And he'd just wreck the whole thing at the mesh point, tackling 2-3 guys at a time. Dude was a monster.

I will say, it’s more of a given that Cam Newton would carry. Tim Tebow never had to do that. He was surrounded by NFL talent and had far superior coaching at Florida.
Cam obviously would carry a team harder than Tebow would, but I think if you put him on a team like one of these recent Tennessee teams they win the national championship. He was still an incredible player and I can't think of a player who I would say was clearly a better leader than him.

Yeah people do undersell the talent on the defensive side of the ball that year. Sure there were holes but a few of those guys managed decent NFL careers.
Josh Bynes, Fairley, Lemonier, Dee Ford and Neiko Thorpe all had more than a cup of coffee in the big time.

Tebow is cam skattebo with a brain. He was an elite threat in red zone and short yardage bc you could spread the field and defense would still have to stack the box to defend a run. He made third and manageable a nightmare for defenses.

I don’t think Tebow would be as effective in the modern game. The average level of QB in the SEC has skyrocketed since his day. Cam Newton definitely could win something big at Tennessee.

I mean, Newton did it with an otherwise mid Auburn team (minus Fairly). Heck, that year Mississippi State was a Cam Newton from having that play out for us.
$180k for a QB like that and a title is chump change today. Shoulda played ball and repaired his dad's church's roof.

Yes they did. It's how they kept that offensive attack of Oregon under control.
