Maybe not

So the idea that Cam single handedly won AU the title is complete shite.

quote:

Auburn would have been 8-5 in 2010 without him.

Auburn would have been 8-5 without a senior laden OL to give Cam the time to do what he did. Auburn would have had at least a couple losses without Fairley or Dyer contributing as well.

These statements that 1 guy lined up and beat 11 are fricking retarded and make the people saying it look as such. Was Cam the most important person to that team? Absolutely. Was he the only reason AU won. No.

I dont understand what was so special about 2010 that Cam could only win single handedly that year.

In the eyes of so many, Auburn isn't supposed to recruit on the level with Alabama or LSU, isn't supposed to win championships. It's a great mystery where that idea originates. History says the opposite.

Gene Chizik arrived as head coach in December 2008 vowing that Auburn would go after the best players in the state and beyond and vowed he and Auburn would not back down. He hasn't and Auburn hasn't. It's safe to say there are those with agendas of their own who don't like that.

Don't disagree.

However, I would equate Cecil Hurt as being on the same level as far as fanbases regard their writers, and I don't recall him going that route.

Sums up the current state of affairs across the nation (especially in the SEC) pretty accurately.

No. It was a sin and something evil against some young innocence boys and some adults seem to let it slid because it would do public damage to Penn State's reputation. And they covered up some of the worse sins for the glory of some men and football. Why would I possible have an appetite for that?

Did any of this make me feel good? No. I saw what I thought to be some Godly men at Penn State go against God and create one of the worse sinful situations ever.

I really feel sorry for the boys. Maybe the season will end for them......

And the root of it all is the love of money.
Winning generates money, recruiting the best players generates winning, winning generates jealousy... follow the trail.

I agree. Its turning into a giant scandal. IMHO, I put a lot of blame on Social Media. Its impossible to keep anything under wraps and young athletes cant control themselves on it.

Best quote in the article...

The truth is, it feels like some people in this state don't believe in the old Cold War doctrine of mutually assured destruction.

Whatever one's feelings about Scarbinsky are, this article is pretty accurate imho. The last 5 years or so, the rivalry has degenerated into a finger pointing contest that ends up serving no purpose but to bring problems to both universities. Both sides are equally guilty and equally stupid in their insane conspiracy theories. No good will come of it.

it's been going on a lot longer than that(50+ years) but the web has developed an easier outlet for everyone to get involved, not just administration and higher up boosters

To be fair, as another poster pointed out, the writer is in the thick of things when it comes to what he's griping about. The guy is a hack and as guilty as any warped fan that does what he's complaining about.

Nobody wins single handedly in a team sport, especially football. Refusing to give auburn credit for winning the title just makes us look bitter.

After all, when God be blessin, the devil starts messin.
