Friggin Perno, we had the CWS won in 08 with Fresno down 1-0 and 3-4 runs up in game 2 and crapped the bed.

so to answer your questions....LSU is like UT in that getting there isnt enough, have to win one.
I would disagree. UT is just now starting to push on baseball. The BaseVOLS had a CWS caliber team when Covid shut everything down and were at the CWS last year so it’s trending right. And the BaseVOLS are ranked going into this year. It’s unreasonable to expect to win it yet. Programs need depth and development and confidence to get to that point and the BaseVOLS are still building that.

He was referring to Texas, not Tennessee. Soon to be too many UTs in the conference.

UT BaseVOLS were conspicuously absent from the post I quoted. If he meant TU Texas he should have stated such.

I think it was a club sport during the 60s. Most fans probably didn't even know it existed. Arkansas has only two head coaches in Norm and DVH. Arkansas is a Johnny come lately compared to many historically better programs.

Its almost equates it that 23 CWS are more important than 2 national titles in baseball.
How many CWS trips equate to a national title?
10 trips...?

If they could get away with it they would just drop basketball and baseball entirely. Sucks, but it's true.
UGA....doesnt care as much to be honest.

Gotta win at least 1 title every 8 trips or less.
Vanderbilt has 2 titles in 5 trips to the CWS.

How recent these events happen matters as well.
It's great OU has 2 titles, but they were 71 and 28 years ago. Since then OU has had only 2 CWS appearances. One in 1995 right after the title and again in 2010. Since 2010 you have had some decent teams, but not really any very good to great teams. You've been trending down too.

To be fair, Vandy caught that lightning the year before.

USCw will always hold the record for most wins, but college baseball was in a totally different era back then. There were 5-6, mabe 7 schools nation wide consistently CWS worthy back then. Now, the SEC itself has 5-6-7-8 teams annually in the Top 10. In its heyday, USCw had no direct radio coverage from Omaha; their school station was patched into a national feed to get it's coverage back to L.A. Ron Dedeaux, playing LSU one year, complained on national radio that LSU had an unfair advantage with all the local fans pulling for them in addition to all the LSU fans in attendance. A whole different baseball world back then, to the extent that record should not count.

Trending downward is an understatement. Basketball, Softball, Golf, Football, Men’s and Women’s Gymnastics all have had great recent successes. Baseball seems to be lacking. Occasionally they will upset highly ranked teams but that’s about it.
