re: D1 Baseball Pre-Season Poll Released - blairjs
I don't disagree. Ole Miss is not a TOP 15 baseball program...but they have a top 15 coach. 1 CWS is better than nothing in my lifetime. Expectations are lower at Ole Miss for baseball. I get this, but I think people put 'Title or bust'. They have not had the sucess the other SEC programs have...
D1 Baseball Pre-Season Poll Released quote: Losing seasons since Bianco: Ole Miss: ZERO overall, 4 SEC LSU: ZERO overall, 4 SEC MSU: Four overall, 9 SEC Arkansas:Three overall, 7 SEC Who really cares about that? Below is what Ole Miss fans care about since Bianco started in 2000....

re: D1 Baseball Pre-Season Poll Released - blairjs
Compared to SEC West programs State, Arkansas, LSU would we not say Bianco has just been mediocre as well? As in, all of those programs have been to multiple CWS. All 3 have played for a national title. State and LSU have won national titles since Bianco took over. The SEC West in baseball...

re: D1 Baseball Pre-Season Poll Released - blairjs
My point though is he still made the college world series, plays in the toughest conference for NCAA baseball with a good win %, never a losing season like Vitello... He has over-achieved in other areas except CWS. Ole Miss isn't LSU/MSU.....

re: Thoughts on Leach heading into year 3? - blairjs
It took 7 years at Washington/9 years at Texas Tech for Leach to break through with more than 10 wins...It onlytook him 3 to 4 years to get to 9 wins at each program. The best you could do this season is 10-2, but that is doubtful. I think most likely you end up with 7-8 wins. I think loss...

re: D1 Baseball Pre-Season Poll Released - blairjs
He has had like 20 years to break through. He has only gotten out of the Super Regional round once and lost in the Regional round 10 times.
Don't forget before Bianco, Ole Miss was bad/mediocre for pratically 30 years. They hadn't been in the college world series since the early 70...

re: D1 Baseball Pre-Season Poll Released - blairjs
Ole Miss would be silly to get rid of Bianco. His record is solid. I agree that post-season tends to underperfom than not, but I imagine he will break through soon.. It sort of reminds me of a better version of Florida with Andy Lopez. Had a solid resume, decent at FL, but gets canned...next scho...

Best SEC team not win a natty in your lifetime - blairjs
Either 2018 Alabama or 2011 lSU 2018 Alabama had the chance to be the first 15-0 team, but they suffered a 44-16 blowout loss to Clemson in the Championship game. Prior to this game, I heard the Gumps swore this was the best team of all time. 2011 LSU was impressive playing probably the tough...

re: Does anyone seriously believe that Texas was the one ducking A&M now? - blairjs
I wouldn't call this one of Texas A&M best decade. They have not won anything in the SEC. I mean the following are clearly better in recent decades: #1 90s: 4 Conference titles #2 80s: 3 Confernece titles #3 00s: 1 division tiles #4 10s-20s: 0 conference titles aka SEC Years We all know th...

Which teams are going to get the biggest benefit from the NIL? - blairjs
I think has definitely helped Texas A&M versus where they have been. What other college have skyrocked due to NIL? We are talking about recruiting more than anything. I feel like Auburn has been hurt by NIL....

re: 2022 was a down year for the SEC Bowls compared to historical or recent history. - blairjs
I specifically listed the playoffs because no other conference has sent more than 1 (unless you include Notre Dame as an ACC member for 2020). So most conferences will have, at worst, their #2 team playing in their top tie-in bowl. This year, only one P5 conference (B1G) outside of the SEC ha...
I am not even attempting to troll Auburn when I ask why in the hell they were favored against Houston? Auburn limped to the finish line while Houston was a top 15 team.
Probably because the game was in Birmingham, AL giving Auburn home field advantage and how we played against Alab...

re: 2022 was a down year for the SEC Bowls compared to historical or recent history. - blairjs
That's a good point. If Alabama loses the SECCG, or Georgia drops to say 5th after the SECCG, then that team likely plays in the Sugar Bowl (Georgia definitely, Alabama probably), so the remaining pairings for SEC teams gets a bit easier. We had a losing bowl record in 2017 as well, when w...
Opt outs really hurt and we were paired with some teams that would have very few opt outs. (UCF, Houston in particular)
I agree that this has been an issue, but all TOP teams regardless are facing this issue. SEC RECRUITS better than everyone else...so we should have the depth. Som...

re: 2022 was a down year for the SEC Bowls compared to historical or recent history. - blairjs
Not surprised. For the top SEC teams, it has become playoffs or bust. Many don’t care about playing in a non-playoff bowl game. Also, I would guess the SEC has more opt-outs, simply for the fact the SEC has the most draft candidates on a year-to-year basis. Last, when we have two teams in the...

2022 was a down year for the SEC Bowls compared to historical or recent history. - blairjs
Bowl record was 42%, which was the worst record for the SEC in a long time. Keep in mind, SEC was favored in 5 bowl games, but took L instead. 1. Florida favored UCF 2. Auburn favored Houston 3. Mississippi State favored Texas Tech 4. Tennessee favored Purdue (Ref did blow this though) 5. Ole M...

What is crazy though is the SEC variety of teams won titles closer together back in the day! The so called golden period of the SEC...crazy thing is you had 6 Different SEC teams win in 11 years. Kentucky even won back then..and defeated the longest NCAA win streak of all time. 1950 Tennessee 19...
