USC files legal challenge against lifetime Gamecock ticket holder
A much-hyped nine-figure overhaul to the Williams-Brice Stadium is set to double the number of suites in the stadium and displace thousands of longtime ticket holders. Now, the University of South Carolina is suing one of those fans whose family has held tickets on the 50-yard line for 60 years.

My uncle has had season tickets for close to 30 year (or more). He's losing his seats because of the "upgrades". As a disabled VietNam Vet, they wanted him to move from an isle seat in the lower bowl to the upper deck.

College admins are way too obsessed with “suites”

A&M went through this exact same thing with Kyle Field redevelopment. there's really not many good answers in these situations.

I think he's just going to let them go. Obviously, he can't get around that well anymore and just going to the games is difficult for him now. This is just the icing on the cake.

SCU doesn't have the leverage to be screwing over loyal fans. They are lucky to have them.

In the case described by OP, the guy bought something called a “Lifetime Membership” for his seats.
The school claims he asked for seats in a suite. He claims he asked to stay in his current seats.
He’s due a whole lot of chicken scratch from the university.

Mitch Barnhart did the same thing at Kentucky.
Lost some long time season ticket holders permanently. The only loyalty is dollar loyalty with these schools. You are to give, they are to take.

They are getting rid of 4100 seats for just 42 boxes?

Agreed. If you're intending to go to a college game and spend the time watching the game in a suite, why not just stay the **** at home and watch it on TV in the comfort of your own home? One of the best parts of attending a college game is being part of the rambunctious atmosphere. Sitting in a suite sterilizes the whole experience and takes away seats from hundreds (or thousands) of rabid fans who would otherwise contribute to the creation of a hostile environment for visiting teams.
Suites are every bit as bad for college football as indoor stadiums and low quality artificial turf.

I hate the trend towards suites. Football isn’t about being comfortable. If I gave a shite about feeling good I wouldn’t be a Vols fan anyway

By definition, a cock IS a prick.

Suites are stupid, especially in the south. I could kind of rationalize it at a place in the upper midwest because it gets cold there in November.
I hate suites, blaring rap music and that crap. The days of uncomfortable bleachers so you stand and yell the whole time are gone and "we have to have wifi" because I get bored have ruined great college atmospheres.

It's happening everywhere unfortunately but it's bullshite. More corporate suites while displacing the actual dedicated SC fans.

It’s the same way everywhere.
Spend more, get less and be treated like a revenue variable to be maximized by consultants masquerading as athletic department employees.

quote:Yes.. those seats bring in thousands, and the suits will bring in millions. It's all about the money and it always will be. The whole thing is running on media contracts and overpriced seating. Welcome to 2025 and the scumbag billionaires that control you and all your information. You let it happen and now you wanna bitch? Spare me.

quote:Yep. It's a tough situation. At A&M, the argument had a little bit different twist in that we completely demolished that part of the stadium and reseated the entire stadium, so the argument was about what was an equivalent seat (the holdouts wanted 2nd deck seats, but didn't want to pay club seat prices, and all the second deck is club seating). The new seats don't literally occupy the same space as the old ones (which would actually be behind the new seating, if you were to plot them in three dimensions)
