The portal is great for those kids that go to Texas A&M, then realize it is a freakish cult and not worth the NIL money.

How does the transfer portal take away amateurism? NIL sure, but the transfer portal is no different than a regular student not being happy at their college and transferring to a different school

To expound a bit further, the consolidation of conferences that have members spanning coast to coast, the discontinuation of rivalries, mass opt outs for bowl games, and NIL combined with the ability to transfer immediately if one's feelings are hurt upon the realization that the other guy is better and more deserving of playing time have all combined to destroy the greatest sport that ever was. CFB is now nothing more than a minor league for the NFL.
I don't know why we couldn't still have a playoff but retain more conferences that all had the same geographic footprint. I miss the days of the SEC, ACC, Big East, Big 10, Big 8, SWC, Mountain West, and PAC 10. In no universe should West Virginia and Oklahoma State be in the same conference. Or USC and Penn State.
