Chips floating in air, will Ole Miss be the same without CLK and Weiss jr?

Much improved on defense slight drop off on offense in 2026.

2027 will depend on QB.

I feel very confident that we'll drop off after LK.

We've had great QB play every year he'd been here.

Golding did a great job in bringing in someone with a similar system and a demonstrated history of running a good offense.

I'm sure there will be a drop-off, but Lacy and Chambliss are good enough to probably keep that at bay until at least 2027.

Hiring John David Baker as OC was pretty big, since he worked under Kiffin and alongside CWJ as Co-OC and runs a very similar offense (slightly faster tempo).

The biggest concern I have on offense is the TE position. Dae'Quan Wright was a huge mismatch for defenses and made several huge plays for us.

On the other side of the ball, the defense should be much improved.

He probably should have the most pressure on him next to Beamer this year because he wasn't the head coach OM wanted to replace Coach Kiffin and was basically rushed to the podium Coach O style, his job security is very minimal now

Weis Jr called uncharacteristically good games in the playoff. Kiffin is the real mastermind behind the offense. I’m of the opinion that Kiffin was secretly doing some game planning for Ole Miss’s offense during the playoff because of how well the offense ran

One thing y’all will realize pretty fast is how easy it is to differentiate between Kiffin calling plays vs. Weis Jr. Kiffin is always using misdirection, motion and calls a different play every single down. He particularly loves the Sluggo route. One thing I’ll Miss is when you hear Kiffin whistling at the QB when they are lined up, you know some shite is about to go down because he knows what the defense is in and how he’s going to exploit it by having the QB change the play.

If Weis Jr is calling plays you get none of that. He will have one play that has moderate success and then he will run that play for an entire quarter even if it’s getting repeatedly stuffed until Kiffin takes the call sheet from him. Dude fricking LOVES having the QB put his hands on the offensive linemen then pushing them up to the line and rushing to snap the ball only to hand it off on a run up the middle for no gain.

The offense will be good for y’all don’t get me wrong. But the last 3 years (especially in the 2024 Kentucky and Florida games) Weis Jr and his playcalling made me want to swan dive into an empty pool.

It blows my fricking mind why Kiffin would give him the reigns, let him suck balls for a quarter or half and then take over later.

Not sure which one was responsible for what play calling, but there were times where the offense was lethal and at times pedestrian. Same offense, same players, but unfathomable play calling that got nowhere and all of a sudden a light switch would turn on and everything was coming up aces. Very strange

Will Ole Miss drop off losing their most successful HC in history and replacing him with a CFB coach who has never coached a regular season game?
