I think what makes it so hard to swallow is that they all bought in to thinking that landing 5 stars Collin Sexton and John Petty was going to bring the program up out of the ashes overnight. But then Auburn ended up stealing the show with an SEC regular season championship. Never mind that Avery Johnson took them to their first NCAA tournament appearance in 6 seasons. Seeing Auburn make another run in the SEC tournament this year was the final nail in the coffin for the fanbase and they lost their shite, the administration included.

Now they are floundering around with their third coach in six seasons, desperately trying to catch up to the machine that Pearl has assembled.

It's like watching Auburn try to match Saban and his success, but without the 2010 national Championship, Kick Six, etc.

Yeah, how did that Final Four go by the way?

Congrats on making it, and finishing like every other team in the nation save 2.....

Here is to you Auburn,

edit to add- it is good that Auburn has taken up basketball, because their football team is going down the pipes...

I think there are structural problems with Alabama's entire athletics program. Football ain't looking so good, basketball is floundering and it has been a decade since they have been relevant in baseball. Maybe a change at AD is in order?

Every other team in the nation won a regional title and their conference tournament?

It was awesome! Beating Kansas, Kentucky, and UNC to raise our first final four banner was legendary. I like Michigan State's final four banners the best... I hope we design ours similarly. . .

Name any other BB loss, besides a few days ago, in AU history that meant anything significant to you.

Actually all the spring sports are doing extremely well at Alabama.

Dude, it was just a little over a month ago and there were talks of Auburn not even making the tournament.
No doubt a big time turn around after the Kentucky blowout.
I don't necessarily call one very strong month of basketball a "machine".

You're exactly right.

We don't talk about things that happened 9 years ago as justification for anything.

For comparison to Bruce's machine, alabama's last sec tournament championship was in 1991, last sec regular season title was 2002, and last final four was never.

Pretty well, even without our best player, until the refs fricked over.

13th in the director’s cup just last year. Will finish similarly this year.

Here are the standings as of April 4th. Alabama has several spring sports having great seasons that will be in the final tabulation for June.

The days of Bama's football dominance are waning. When it is all that you have to hang your hat on, it hurts that much more when it goes away.
