Hell, Orgeron was 2-0 vs UGA with an average win of 20+ points..

True. And Kirby is 2-0 against Kelly.

I'm not sure what either of our comments have to do with the thread, but there you are.

All I give two shits about is that we finally have a coaching staff. No one named Miles and Orgeron that stumbled across

I don't know why this is even a debate. I think most of us can agree that Saban is the greatest CFB coach of all time and when it comes to hardware, at least at this level, Kirby has one up over Kelly. Will Kelly win his own at LSU? That remains to be seen, but most reasonable posters should be able to concede that he is a pretty damn good coach in his own right.

I will likely never disagree with Notre Dame being over-rated.

However, we are comparing them to 90's Michigan St. Also, Notre Dame's schedule was typically harder in the time period you cite. Back when teams like USC and Michigan were still good.

So the difference in name brand, resources etc was pretty big even if Notre Dame is over-rated.

So let me ask you why BK left ND for LSU?

He wasn’t expected to be in the playoff regularly there (yet he got there several times). He was their winningest coach ever even without a NC or NC game appearance. He did this without 100% commitment from the administration on facilities and support. Why leave?

Only for a program he thinks he can win that NC or several with. Why does he think LSU is that program?

He said himself it’s because of the recruiting disadvantages at ND due to location and educational requirements, and the fact that the administration is 100% on board with their support (alignment) of the program.

He believes his coaching ability paired with LSU’s recruiting advantages and total admin support will help him win at least one NC. Otherwise he wouldn’t have entertained the offer.

I believe he’s right.

Brian Kelly: 2 time AP Coach of the Year

Saban has only won this award twice with 7 NC’s.

Brian Kelly winning it twice by winning nothing of importance makes a mockery of it.

While at ND, Brian Kelly is undefeated in his conference and won the conference championship every year.

LSU took out Georgia twice with orgeron at the helm.
And he has still not landed a job.

Do what? Which conference?

They were only eligible one year to play in the championship game and lost.

You’re the one that’s missing the point baw. It doesn’t matter what school they were at before hand. The deal is Brian Kelly is a way more accomplished and experienced coach stepping on the LSU campus than Saban ever was when he did. That’s the only point I’m trying to make. And you seem to not want to understand the point. We just hired our most accomplished head coach and people think we’re going to suck? You gotta love it.

eeeeehhhhhhhhh

saban is supposed to win or play for the title yearly. For the last 14 years he has consistently had the best team and roster in CFB and often times by laughable margins. It's like that shemale swimmer that was beating up on women, like ok great you won but I mean you were supposed to so congrats I guess? I have no isues with inferior coaches taking inferior teams with lesser talent and winning way above what they were expected to, compared to the best coach in the history of the sport taking a roster full of 5* and winning.

No, the dawgs are now where they should've been this whole time. We're here to stay. If he gets Kirby, it will be a few years.

Oh I don't think you'll suck.

I just think Kelly's lack of big game success isn't a great indicator that LSU will be winning national championships.

Of course, you managed to win one with Orgeron, so it seems your coordinators and assistants mean more than your HC.

Not gonna happen.

If Kelly can win 1/3 games against Saban, he'd prove himself as one of the best coaches in the conference.

much like 01 miami or 10 auburn, LSu won in spite of their coach not because of him. Kelly is obviously better than orgeron, but unless kelly gets the best QB and the best collection of offensive talent ever assunmbled in the history of LSu football, I gotta think the odds are against him ot win it all.
