In all seriousness, if I were an Auburn fan I'd want them to interview the Coastal Carolina coach. Hell, if I were a USCe fan I would've wanted him instead of Beamer.

This. If their palace intrigue is enough to scare off a Sunbelt coach, I'm sure Lane is falling all over himself to pack up and head east.

Texas boosters are in a class all their own. Auburn is Jr league in meddlesome boosters

Maybe so but Texas > Auburn by a mile in every category and you have almost zero competition other than OU.

Every major CFB staff has recruiting connections in Texas at this point. And Texas is in a terrible conference, with no chance of that changing for the next few years minimum.

One that their rival Oklahoma owns

I had not heard this. So UF boosters tried to strong arm a 2 time MNC HC and wound up running him off? If true, holy shite.

Happened with Spurrier as well.

Seriously, after it happened so many times in so many places I can't believe Auburn boosters would play with fire like this.

We had meddlesome boosters before Fisher. I have to give Woodward credit for getting them all on the same page, and letting Fisher do his thing. Now they just write checks

Hate to break it to you but your current AD let them push him around at Ole Miss

Nice to know. Good thing we don't have to make any hires for quite awhile

So I'm hearing that the Clemson OC straight up declined an interview. Is that true Auburn fans?

I guess this is what happens when booster involvement has made a program utterly radioactive, yet said boosters are the last ones in the room to figure it out.

Elliott declined to interview. Apparently Auburn is about to announce Bill Clark as the new head coach.

Well, I guess that's better than Steele. At least Clark has had success as a HC, and he definitely knows the Alabama high schools (maybe better than anyone). But he better get some national recruiters on his staff since I'm assuming he didn't recruit many players outside of the state.

they could do MUCH worse then Bill Clark. He would be a real solid hire without much risk of it blowing up in their face.

I want to thank the Auburn board for the last 30 mins of my day. Reading 10+ pages of a roller coaster was great.

I will say y’all have a much more controlled melt than LSU. LSU melt is all gas no brakes, crash and burn. Auburn is a plane that is making an emergency landing w some turbulence on the way.
