Four schools could lose games if a nine, plus-one schedule is approved in late July: Florida State, Georgia, West Virginia and Georgia Tech. It seems likely an eight, plus-two schedule would keep all 14 non-conference games among the three Power 5 conferences but would lead to the cancellations of non-conference games against other FBS and FCS opponents. Unless, of course, the conferences decide on an eight-game schedule with one FCS/Group of 5 school plus one against a Power 5 team.

If there was known truth to them, would they still be rumors?

It's been rumored that TCU might take the place of USC for Alabama, but nothing has been confirmed for example.

Posted this in another subject earlier this week—ESPN is driving this bus. If the conferences want their money , ESPN told them to play 12 games. Would make a lot of sense for the two conferences to partner given their ESPN contracts.

If USC can fly to Washington state, Utah, AZ, OR they can sure as heck make it to Dallas, Tx. So, it doesn't make sense, conference only! Oklahoma can fly to W.Va. or vice-versa. B.C. can fly to play MIami(fla.) If we're going to play at all, then play the whole da..schedule!

We're all going to look stupid when it's revealed Covid can only spread at OOC games.

Wouldn’t mind adding Clemson, Georgia Tech, Miami and Florida State to the schedule that is likely to get canceled anyway.

I've always wondered why LSU doesn't play the Saints more often. Seems like a natural rivalry.

The main reason OOC games are getting canceled is for money. If other teams who schools do not have to pay can take their place I bet they find a way to play. The next question is who pays the directional school who's game got canceled.

I am still unclear on if they are canceling non-con to push the season back to late Sept or what. If there are still week 1 games, than I don't know what logic they are trying to use.

Think conferences are going conference only because it gives them scheduling freedom. If you’re only trying to play 9 games in a 13-14 week window it gives you more leeway to push back the start, postpone games, etc.

Since most schools play OOC games the first 2 weeks could it just be a way of buying more time for the season to start if there is a season?

I heard this directly from someone in the SEC office. ACC and Big 12 champ will get promoted to SEC. Last place of SEC gets relegated to Big 12, 2nd to last to the ACC.
