You could fit a fleet of semis between the hashes on a college field

Seriously - I mean you are really making shite hard on yourself if you have mentally decided (or have a mental block) that you are only throwing the ball to the sidelines.

With his skillset and runningbacks how are they not implementing RPOs with stuff in the middle of the field?

I dunno but I'd prefer they not start trying

At some point they are going to turn to Finley full time even if he's not necessarily better at most things solely because he sees the whole field and will try and use it.

Exactly my thoughts. The running game is going to suffer if Nix doesn't start making those overzealous linebackers pay for running up to the los at the snap, by dumping it over the top of their heads to WRs streaking across the middle.

Super scared to throw it over the middle.

Daddy Nix must have told him all about the legend of Jamie Howard.

Bo Nix was the reason they lost in 2019. Auburn’s defense put up a Herculean effort against that offense.

I really thought one of the improvements you'd see out of him with Harsin/Bobo was easier throws across the middle at certain times just to get some easy yards and confidence and not make every throw either a bubble or a tough long throw to the sideline like seemed to happen with Gus.

I did too, and they have been there. Last week there were tons of wide open crossing routes. He has had some good throws on some posts and deeper crossing routes that technically end up in the outside the hash stats, but really were down the middle throws. Not enough though.

I did not expect to see him continue to throw to places/times our of the Malzahn offense within the Bobo/Harsin offense. It's gotta be frustrating, because unlike Malzahn they are looking to use the whole field in the passing game (at least I assume).

Yea I don't get it. I think he just doesn't even look for it.

Bo Nix has played LSU twice. He absolutely destroyed LSU last year in Auburn. Played a hell of a game as a true freshman in Baton Rouge in '19. LSU overall was just a little bit better.

Honestly, he looks like he's regressing. 2019 was probably his best season.

I think it had been drilled into his head so many times not to turn it over that he doesn't really attempt a lot of passes.

He ain't it. He's trying to protect his stats by throwing safe throws. Probably something coached into him, but at some point you have to make the hard throws. He can't do it.

I knew I wasn't crazy when I've bitched about us never throwing quick slants

To be fair, his attempts are so bad they don’t look like attempts and then don’t get recorded as such

But that isn’t fair. He’s had some damn good throws. He’s had some solid drives. He’s won some big games. I’m not saying he isn’t inconsistent because he is, but to imply that all his attempts so bad is not accurate.

I don’t know what happens with Bo this weekend or beyond but he’s had some really good games for us. On the road not so much vs top 10 teams, but that could be said for a lot of QB’s, and maybe that’s reason enough to see if TJ can get us off the schnide in Red Stick, I'm okay with that. But Bo has had many good attempts. Just not consistently enough for Harsin not to try something different.

Been saving them for the next game. LSU won't even cover there. It's genius....

That’s got to be schedule related. Not bashing on nix but the coaching staff just not trust him to throw it over the middle because he’s not quite there as far as reading defenses goes. Doesn’t mean he can’t beat LSU this week because he sure did last week. But if you’re LSU, I’d think some of the game plan should be to see if he can beat us over the middle

To be fair and yes Bo scares me to death…lets not forget that Coach just dismissed his receivers coach. I do not see any D1 coach going to such extreme unless something was seriously wrong at that position.
I am no expert but I would think its hard to throw downfield between the hashes when receivers can’t get separation at the line of scrimmage coupled with spotty line play.
Bo and TJ have handled some pretty tough questions this week with class. It is going to be interesting to see what Aubie does Saturday night especially with receiver rotation.

So the slot receiver and TE's are terrible? Too bad for Auburn the middle of the field is where you should throw the football against LSU

Perusing that website a little bit, initial impression is that most QB's don't throw alot inside the hashes.
