2 of his 103 passes on the season have been under 20 yards and inside the hash marks.

That comes out to 1.9%.

To compare:
- KJ Jefferson has thrown 78 passes. 8 have been under 20 yards between the hashes (10.3%)
- Matt Corral has thrown 96 passes. 10 have been under 20 yards between the hashes (10.4%)

- Max Johnson has thrown 135 passes. 21 have been under 20 yards between the hashes (15.6%)
- JT Daniels has thrown 71 passes. 16 have been under 20 yards between the hashes (22.5%)

It hasn't been lack of trying. Either he is inaccurate or the WR's drop them, or a good defensive play.

No, not completions. Attempts.

He's attempted 2 passes the entire season across the middle short of 20 yards. That's it. 2. Out of 103. It's fvckin wild.

It’s most definitely from lack of trying

If they have any sense that will change on Saturday.

It's his 'scanner eye', Feldman style.

Typical passing chart for him. My main criticism of him is when you take away the bubble screen, he has zero passing skills in the middle or deep zones.

Bo Nix has played LSU twice. He absolutely destroyed LSU last year in Auburn. Played a hell of a game as a true freshman in Baton Rouge in '19. LSU overall was just a little bit better.

I just don't think he can do it. I don't know if it's just wired into him because of how Malzahn's offense worked, wired into him from being a freshman and told not to make mistakes across the middle in traffic or what. But I know that Harsin/Bobo's offense runs crossers and drags, so it's not that. He clearly just doesn't look there and/or won't pull the trigger unless a guy is just standing there wide open.

It's pretty crazy.

It is lack of trying.

But in the kids defense, his oline doesn't give him much time to even dump off mid-range passes. He looks rushed and antsy behind that line.

To be fair, his attempts are so bad they don’t look like attempts and then don’t get recorded as such

To be fair, there have been some I can remember that would be considered "middle of the field" but we were on one hash. Honestly, what has been strange to me is how little we've played from the middle of the field.

It is an issue for Nix though. He does not seem to want to look at the short over the middle routes.

I really thought one of the improvements you'd see out of him with Harsin/Bobo was easier throws across the middle at certain times just to get some easy yards and confidence and not make every throw either a bubble or a tough long throw to the sideline like seemed to happen with Gus.

I did not expect to see him continue to throw to places/times our of the Malzahn offense within the Bobo/Harsin offense. It's gotta be frustrating, because unlike Malzahn they are looking to use the whole field in the passing game (at least I assume).

Yep. Last Saturday, guys were running wide open across the middle of the field all day long, because the linebackers were jumping up to the line of scrimmage all day. Nix never once looked to the middle of the field. It wasn't until Finley came in that there were passes being thrown in the middle of the field.

How do you only have 6 attempts between the college hashmarks in 103 attempts? Like how? I mean shite. That’d abnormal in the NFL with the narrower hashmarks, but in college? That’s insane.

At some point they are going to turn to Finley full time even if he's not necessarily better at most things solely because he sees the whole field and will try and use it.

Because the middle of the field is ugly and scary.

That was my first thought

You could fit a fleet of semis between the hashes on a college field
