Now you all finally see how it goes down in Tuscaloosa.

I believe the SEC will regret selling everything to Disney/ESPN.... You need some competition to keep a balance.
Plus Disney is a terrible organization.

Why is there not a separate thread? This Israel team deserves to have it's own thread. These are professionals.
And Auburn is hanging with them, after having a game yesterday.

Don't worry it will be back in Birmingham/Hoover next year.
It had to take a backseat to the World Games this year.
As long as the SEC office is in Birmingham, it will always come back to Birmingham.

I watched it online. I thought it sucked. The song about Alabama was corny. I'm tired of seeing American vs Idol winners as our main celebrities. Lionel Richie sounded like shite.
lol. All right. :rotflmao:

Closing Cermonies were well organized with technology, performances, and fireworks. Birmingham left a great impression on the international visitors. The future is looking bright.

With only the rest of today and tomorrow left, this can pretty much be considered a success. A lot of international visitors at these events as well. The Olympic President was in town. The Los Angeles Olympic Committee was in town. A lot of movers and shakers visited Birmingham. Birmingham proved it can host major international events. I only see good things for Birmingham in the near and far future. Residents of Birmingham should be proud of themselves. There's not been a major international event like this in the U.S. since the 1996 Olympics, and Birmingham was even a part of that.

It's great the the games are doing well but all of that is Birmingham level stuff, like Olympic soccer in 96. It's always going to be tough to step up as a destination when we are surrounded by Atlanta, Nashville and NO.
That's the negativity creeping in. Birmingham can do what it wants to do. All I've ever heard from people outside of the South say when they visit Birmingham is that they were surprised at what Birmingham had to offer.

Despite the negativity of some, this seems to be giving Birmingham a much needed boost in attention and self confidence. If the people of the world enjoy it, then there's really no excuse anymore. Birmingham can be whatever it decides it wants to be.
From the looks of the events, this might be the most attended World Games in a while after it's all said and done. The Sumo last night was pretty exciting and was also a sold out event.
The Hawks-Pelicans preseason game in Birmingham this year will be another highlight moment for Birmingham to realize that it can be at that level.
The USFL already did that to a level.

I wonder if/when the Panthers and the Jaguars will be trying to suck a new stadium out of their cities' residents....

I mean come on, it's a growing city that just really hit the next level on it's growth spurt. Check back in 10 years and see whether you want to live in wherever you are now, or Huntsville.

I don't know why people expect the people of Birmingham to stick around for more than the Birmingham game.
It would have been the same anywhere else.
Plus there's been races, music festivals, and other semi-pro games going on over the last month in Alabama. There's other things for people to go to over NFL-lite.

B-ham defense has a little edge to it.

I think people are mistaking attendance for how long the league will last. FOX has already allocated money to keep the league going for a few years. They won't count this year against anything because these teams are not in their own cities. NBC Universal is using this to lead up to the World Games in Birmingham in a few months. They are getting their TV crew acclimated to the environment. The attendance doesn't mean anything outside of the Stallions games.

Defenses don't seem to hold up in this league in the 4th quarter. Thin rosters.

That was a pretty good drive....
You can see the potential of this league when all of the teams go to their own cities with their own fans.

Weak throws get gobbled up in the USFL.
