No idea why it’s 2 games. I can only speculate that the judge thought punishment was warranted as he broke NCAA rules but more would be too punitive. Only speculation on my part.

that makes sense. I was thinking that theres no way the judge can come up with a suspension and grant an injunction on his own. the judge just granted the request that included a 2 game suspension and an injunction?

I’m retired and just piddling around today. Lots of time to react to the righteous know it alls on this board. I love to poke the bear so to speak.
I came to this board to see what you guys were saying. The hypocrisy today has been massive.
Baylor is acting all aghast. Baylor - had a basketball player literally murder another player and tried to cover it up. Baylor who had a rape culture and tried to cover it up. People went to jail for actual criminal behavior.
OU - kept a player that assaulted a girl out of jail, suspended him then let him play (Joe Mixon). Actual criminal behavior.
Nebraska - allowed Lawrence Phillips to play in a championship game after getting into actual criminal trouble that he eventually went to jail for. And they are calling for a boycott of Tech.
We all know SEC schools (and others) have broken NCAA rules by paying players for years. Not criminal behavior but clearly against NCAA rules. But I guess that’s okay. You can pick which rules that can be broken and it’s not so bad. No boycott.
Sorsby - hasn’t played one game for Tech. Broke NCAA rules concerning gambling. No question. Not criminal behavior just against NCAA rules. Let’s hang him and boycott Tech. Tech didn’t file the lawsuit Sorsby did. Now Tech has to figure out what action to take. The ruling just came down.
All the high and mighty hypocrites are calling for boycotts. Integrity of the game. Yes but so is paying players etc. But that’s okay I guess. Selective outrage as I have said. Huge bunch of hypocrites.

The entire B1G and SEC will end up boycotting Tech. The ACC and B12 will follow. This is actually easy to solve. NCAA says that Tech is ineligible for the CFP if they play this kid. That solves the problem really quickly

But why any at all? Why would a judge rule that at all? Was that meant to appease opponents of the rule? It’s beyond ridiculous.

I could see how that would be a work around from the injunction. Technically it doesn’t harm him as he’s still allowed to play, the postseason ban does not negatively affect his ability to play the season.

IMO, if the Big 12 doesn't act when they have the power to, it should go as far as B1G & SEC boycotting the Big 12. That would put real, meaningful pressure on multiple entities. I don't think they will since it seems like Tech's money is calling the shots around there with the power vacuum left by Texas and OU's exit.

The NCAA has no say in the CFP. It's a separate entity.
I think we could possibly see a scenario where the CFP never makes a statement but just leaves out Tech from their rankings.

Exactly. shite happens. We had to play with Peyton Thorne and Jackson Arnold the last 3 years. It happens.
That kid should have been immediately dismissed, no questions asked. He gambled in his own team. End of story.

Has anyone actually read the ruling? It’s wild. The judge’s core argument is that consequences to breaking laws and rules are not ok because they cause irreparable harm. He’s rendering the entire judicial system null and void. What an idiot.
The original order was fatally flawed for not including a trial date, so they had to turn around and do a supplemental order with a trial date (next year, no surprise). That tells me the order was written by an out of state attorney unfamiliar with Texas practice.

This is what I love about baseball. Dude would be taking heaters off his batting helmet all season if he pulled this sort of thing. Maybe he'll just get a cheap shot to the knee or something
