Sorry, but that is just too big a footprint to work, IMHO. For an “event” like a football game, traveling literally from one national border to another may be workable. For the “cost” sports like volleyball, baseball, and basketball, is it realistic to travel that far, especially for midweek games? Sure, A&M and USCe are pretty far apart, but the SEC is still pretty cohesive and contiguous.

I just don’t see it, but stranger things have happened.

I’d like to interject an idea: we could like start an off-topic board or something for non-SEC topics. OR if we’re that interested, get Rivals accounts.

well that would be the end of the power 5.

It would be a power 4.

Big 12 would go the way of the Big East

OU is looking to leave no doubt. I see OU to SEC and Texas to Big 10 / PAC 12

Anything involving Flugaur is just click bait and not worth the effort.

B1G is the only P5 in declining markets. Anybody dumb enough to fall for their pitch deserves what they get. Penn State was successful as an IND but a lackey to UM and OSU in the B1G. Nebraska is terrible in the B1G. Maryland certainly is not prospering in sports exposure since they joined.

Cutting the PAC to 8 teams and cutting the B12 to 8 might be the best solution they have them schedule lots of cross conference rivalries like the ACC does with the SEC.

Ou isn’t going anywhere without Texas. The two schools have no issues with sharing a conference.

Yeah that guaranteed 15 million a year sucks

UNC inked a better deal in the last few years and they net more because they don't have to give such a huge chunk to IMG.

Texas deal
11 million to austin
4 million to IMG

Congrats on getting a worse deal than a basketball first school

Except they don’t share the conference. You call the Longhorn Network sharing? If so you are in denial.

What are the declining markets in the Big Ten?

Chicago, New York, Washington D.C, area? Maybe some of the midwestern states, but is Mississippi really a better market than Minnesota

Im guessing Big Ten is as powerful as they come. you add Texas and it would be the number one by far.

But those cable subscriptions are a fickle thing, Its hard to tell

TV deals will be radically changed by cord cutting. It may not decrease overall revenue. But we could see another conference realignment based on the new formulas.

You will see the amazons and netflix types pop up. Espn was smart in creating a streaming service with ad capabilities.

I think there are just too many obstacles for this to happen. I can see why the Big Ten wants Texas, but OU? I am surprised that several of the member institutions would not throw a massive fit over that move. I guess football really is all that matters in the end.

Defcon 5 would be if ND and Texas went to Big Ten.

Then its like basically two conferences in football that would make a shitload of money.

I actually like have multiple competitive conferences from all over the nation.

In this instance its the Big Ten, SEC and everyone else.

That would kind of suck

Teams across the country are already in different divisions based on the sport.

Hockey for example is basically the midwest as one conference. ND is in the B1G in hockey

Fencing did a Midwest region as opposed to a B1G region. OSU and PSU are in different regions as an example

The major sports do the travel for the money; the non-revenue sports will remain as they are likely
