Off the top of my head

1. Peyton Manning
2. Darren McFadden
3. Tua
4. Leonard Fournette
5. Rex Grossman

Grossman doesn't rank as high on the all time greats list, but certainly ranks up there in having deserved the Heisman for his season.

Grossman
3,896 Yards, 34 TD, 66% completion in 11 games

Crouch
1,510 Yards passing, 7 TD, 10 Int, 56% completion in 12 games
1,115 Yards rushing, 19 TD

Most Deserving list of players to not win the Heisman, compared to the player that won the Heisman:

Larry Fitzgerald over Jason White
Darren Sproles over Jason White
Rex Grossman over Eric Crouch
Peyton Manning over Woodson

McFadden was going against Tebow and Troy Smith
Suh going against Toby Gerhart and Ingram

I’d say McFadden over shitty Troy Smith.

Sorry but no

What he did in Les';s offense was special. Switch him and Henry and LF runs away with the Heisman that year. Him not even getting invited to NYC was one of the biggest overreactions to one game I've ever seen.

Marcus had some incredible numbers, but played in an historically BAD conference in regards to pass defense.
Number of top 50 pass defenses faced (prior to Heisman ceremony): 1
Number of pass defenses ranked 90th or worse (prior to Heisman ceremony): 9

He faced a defense ranked 120th or worse 5 times prior to the Heisman ceremony.

Do you think for 5 seconds that someone on the west coast wouldn't have called foul if Burrow had gotten his numbers facing an average pass defense of 94.75 (and hell, that's with Stanford's 8th ranked pass defense in there - without them, it's 102.6)?

Well if we are comparing stats

The topic is best players, not best seasons.

Get back to us when the Heisman is a career award. Also, Fournette played in a completely pathetic offense with Miles where teams put all of their defenders in the box due to no threat of the pass. Gurley was an awesome back, but statistically never had a year as good as Fournette's sophomore year.

Who should he have gone in the place of?

Christian McCaffery? - more yards, fewer TDs
Deshaun Watson?

There's not a close second.
Eh, McFadden losing the Heisman to Troy fricking Smith was pretty bad. He didn't even pass for 2600 yards. He won it because he was the QB for an undefeated Ohio State team. Period.

Melvin Gordon would have won it over Cooper. I have no issue with Mariota winning it, he was great.

Mariota also rushed for almost 800 yrds and 15 TDs. Accounting for 58 TDs.

It's not like he was Troy Smith

McFadden was runner up twice.

He deserved it.

He is #1 above all.

So the best comeback you have is Gurley, who isn't even being discussed by anyone, had a career average of 0.2 ypc and 0.05 TD/G more than LF7, and that is somehow earth shattering? If Gurley hadn't been injured so much, he might have won a Heisman, and no one would argue against that, certainly not me.

Gotta agree with this. Gurley could have got one if not for injuries and Chubb could’ve if not for injuries and sharing carries. Fournette was also a great player, so can make the list as well. Really don’t feel like getting into the Chubb/Gurley vs Fournette thing again. All are in the NFL now and all were great in college.

Edit. Kamara probably could’ve won one in the right offense as well. Dude was criminally underutilized at Tennessee.

To be fair, LSU fans shite on Swift this year for the same thing.

What’s the average rank of the defenses that Tua played? He got smoked by Clemson and Georgia.

No chance Cooper should have won the heisman that year.
