I always stop at Deanie's in the quarter for BBQ shrimp.
Oyster po-boy at Johnny's is hard to beat too.
Since this sounds like it's your first trip you should probably get a voodoo at Lafitte's Blacksmith Shop

You want a strong drink ?
Go to Port of Call and order a Monsoon.
Don’t drink two.

Yeah a guy at work told me about Lafittes. He also said they had the best hurricanes too

Best Hurricane in the Quarter. Real juices, very potent. Plus, just a cool place.

And Antoines for dinner. Grab a mojito at Old Absinthe House.

I'm assuming you are staying around the quarter, so a muffuleta at Napoleon House is a good time, especially in the courtyard.

Mother's is tourist trap trash.

Most things in the CBD or the Quarter are tourist traps. My hot take about NOLA is that the tourist traps are still decent quality and a fun time

Wife and I spend the weekend in New Orleans a couple years ago for our anniversary and ate at Deanies. I would not recommend this place. Either you have bad taste or we caught them on a really bad day because the food was disgusting and tasted like it had been fried in a mixture of old grease and well water. We will never go back there

Mothers is not tourist trap trash, they are legit home cooking in a restaurant setting. They're nothing to rave over compared to other places, but if you want actual home cooked meals in a restaurant setting, it's at Mothers.

Dragos or Felix and Acme's have the best BBQ oysters

I will always be a fan and recommend Dickie Brennan's. When my daughter was 8, our family and her best friend's family were dining there. The waitress asked my daughter and her friend if they would like to go help the chef in the kitchen prepare desserts. They got to decorate cakes and mix batter. They still talk about that evening 11 years later.
