Troy over Kentucky. Seriously though, it's a heck of a longshot, but I like how we match up with Kentucky. Troy plays a real blue collar style of basketball. A real David vs Goliath matchup.

We beat Georgia Southern on the road 28-20. This was a rebuilding year for us with a new coach after Tulane took basically our entire coaching staff and roster. G5 football is in a bad place right now. Some of yall big'uns complain about the transfer portal and NIL, yall have no idea what it's like to be a scrappy little school.

I went once back in 2008 when Troy played them. I rank it as the worst unfriendly environment and I've been to Death Valley at night twice. They act like they are doing you a favor by playing you. We lost 28-10 and they were mad they didn't crush us.
When Troy won at LSU, I was worried about the walk outside the stadium, but it wasn't bad like OSU. OSU felt like I was going to have to fight.
Just for reference, the best visiting venue is by far Nebraska. When we beat them in 2018, their fans stood up and cheered us. They were giving our players high fives as they walked off the field.
Nebraska is pure class and Ohio State is pure trash.

They got that Tim Cook Apple money. Money at Auburn aint the problem. The problem is they act with emotion and micromanage the frick out of their coaches. That's why BH basically quit fired. They also think they are too good for up and comers. They should have hired Jon Sumrall over Freeze. Freeze is going to get a big payday just like all the other mistakes they have hired. Auburn is he best coaching job in the country because you make more bank getting fired than sticking around.

I thought it was David vs Goliath and Goliath barely escaped. To us outsiders, Georgia should have won by 3 touchdowns in the 3rd quarter.
Given what Vandy, Tulane, and Tech have done this season, I see a trend where rich schools are going to be competitive.

When Troy won the SBC in 22 and 23, the fans were invited onto the field. Granted, it was only 30k people but still it was fun.

Here it is from Troy's perspective. I think we get more mileage from not playing Bama or Auburn. We can say: Bama been ducking us for 100 years.
I don't think there is an upside for Bama and Auburn playing Troy because the truth is they might lose. Sure, Troy has been blown out by SEC opponents, but sometimes we win like at LSU for homecoming in 2017, at night, when LSU was wearing purple.
Troy thrives on being the underdog. That makes taking a scalp that much better.
