Antoine's - (Oldest restaurant in America - need a reservation)
Jacques-Imo's - (Incredible food - But they are closed for their annual summer break until August 12th)
The Market Cafe - (caddy corner acroas Decatur from Cafe Du Monde - One kf the best shrimp Poboys in the quarter, my favorite Mufulleta sandwich in the quarter.)

My advice on New Orleans is: to plan every meal. It is the best dinning city in the world, but if you let yourself get hungry you’ll pop into some tourist trap. The city is full of restaurants you’ll never forget. My favorites are Jacques-Imo's and Commander’s Palace.
There are also places like Parkway Bakery where even the locals wait in long lines because the poboys are so amazing (if you go, order the James Brown). Being from out of town, you’ll be able to get a pretty awesome poboy there from anywhere with a good online ranking.

Heading to New Orleans next April - hope I can find this thread again when getting ready for that. Been about 10 years since my last visit - so I too appreciate the suggestions here!

It’s the type of drink that sneaks up on you . Drank one and I was feeling it but not too bad , I made the mistake of drinking another one , I’ve never felt like that in my life . I’m a local and I’ve never had another monsoon after that night .

Best BBQ shrimp in town and the gumbo yaya is my favorite by a mile. Great bar! You'll see a lot of the old timers from old krewes drinking bourbon milk punch there during Mardi Gras season.

I visit Port of Call everytime I'm in NOLA and have done so for years. Love those big burgers cooked to perfection. I don't think I've ever gone there and not had a Monsoon but a couple years ago I got brave enough to have a second one. Bad, bad idea. I literally have no memory of leaving the restaurant and walking back to our hotel in the CBD. Fortunately it was early afternoon so I wasn't hungover too badly the next day. But NOLA isn't a great place to be walking around hammered and at my age, I should know better.

Cochon's is absolutely amazing. Would highly recommend for anyone who enjoys good food.

If you are headed to NOLA via I55, time your trip for a stop at Middendorf's in Manchac for the best fried catfish. Order the thin fried (Middendorf's Special). Just writing this makes me want to head down there from north Alabama.

Please don’t come back to this thread. Some absolutely horrendous advice. I’ve seen Acme oyster house and Mother’s mentioned multiple times. Both suck.
Ask the food and drink board. Not the SEC rant.
