It all depends on the use case. A plug in hybrid is perfect for someone who drives 20-30 miles a day to and from work, but also need the reliability of gas on longer trips. I would not buy electric unless I was staying local, or lived in a state with very good electric support.

We were road tripping from BR to Colorado a few weeks ago. Just about ready to stop in Dallas after the first day (keeping below 8 hour days for the kiddos), and the AC went out. Turned out to be a hole knocked in the road shrapnel had taken out our condenser coil. $1500 rush labor to get back on the road the next day.
