BCS Bowlers are not recruiting champions

Not one of the teams in 2010-2011 BCS bowls have a yearly top 5-10 recruiting ranking, with the possible exception of Ohio State (not top 5).
Some of the teams are loaded with 3*s, and some are loaded with 2* and 3* players.
Coaching and competition make a huge difference.

the norm is the BCS champion is usually at the top of the recruiting rankings. And Auburn is where they are due to a super talented player.

I'm assuming that UA, UF, LSU, USC, OSU, the U, etc all had at least one top 5 class prior to their MNC.

We have both exceptional recruiting classes (see 2008), and great coaching. Yes, we lost 3 games this year. But we also lost a lot of guys to the NFL, so obviously this year would be transitional.

A lot of the usual suspects had young teams in 2010. Experience counts a hell of a lot.

If what you are saying is there is no correlation between top rated classes and BCS bowl appearances. I'd almost guarantee that there is one.-at the top...remember there are 10 BCS teams some with conference lockin's and non aq guarantees, I'd say none of the non-aq's and none of the BigEast, ACC have top 10 classes say over the past few yrs....but if you look at the bcscg participants then I'd say there is over time a clear correlation

Though if you are a highly sought after recruit wouldn't you want to go somewhere that is only a piece or two short of having a shot at it all? That is assuming you will be that piece. That'd seem more attractive than going somewhere where there's a log jam at your position.

Recruiting rankings are not extremely accurate the seperation between the top 15 teams is not very much.

Check where NC playing teams finished in recruiting prior to them playing in the game and get back to me on that statement. You'll notice almost every single one, especially the winner had a top 3 recruiting class within the 4 yrs of playing in the game.. recruiting matters.

Since 2002 (When Rivals started ranking teams based on recruiting hauls), the only team to not make it to the National Championship game within 4 years of signing a #1 class was USC's 2006 signing class.
That speaks volumes about a couple of things. #1 - Surprisingly accurate recruiting rankings and #2 - The importance of signing top recruits.

Multiple highly rated recruiting classes in back-to-back years is not only a double edged sword but it cuts a couple of more ways as well.
Top recruits combined with good coaching, a favorable schedule and injury luck leeds to championships. But all of the successes lead to a group of negatives for the couple of years that follow which would help explain why it is so difficult to stay on top.
Recruits see a deep depth chart and want early playing time - they go somewhere else. Those with the highest competative mindset take the depth chart as a challenge and jump in. The ones with that kind of drive often head to the NFL a year early when the recruits that went elsewhere would be most needed.
Winning puts your good coaching on the map and causes shuffling in the staff. A shuffled staff has about 60 days to get on the same page before the kids still there are looking to them for ansers in the spring. A shuffled staff takes recruiting relationships and spreads them to other places making the effort to stay on top that much more difficult.
The key to watch is which programs can recover from the spinning wheel and climb quickly back to the top to start it all over again. Those are the teams that are near the top of the pile at both the beginning and end of each season most every year. It is not a very large club.

Maybe true, but you can't win a national championship if you're not consistently pulling in Top10 recruiting classes every year. It's a proven fact over the last 10 years.

Obviously you can, because it's either Oregon or Auburn this year and neither consistently pulls in top 10 talent. Oregon's best class was last year's, and it was 13th according to Rivals. Auburn had a #4 class but that's not the norm, and they pulled in a few (lol) surprise recruits.

Auburn has brought in a ton of talent under Chizik the last two years.
