I could see it. Najee isn't any old average true freshman.
Najee - but can he block? That will likely determine how much he plays and when

Thanks for the info Tillman
I see what you are saying. Clemson only won because Bama made a mistake in coverage. Without the Bama mistake leaving a WR wide open, Clemson should have gone home a loser again.

Jalen regressed this year
Jalen was a freshman. The DC's he went up against were shooting at a target they did not yet understand. As the year moved on the good DC's we faced the last several games (starting with LSU) had film and began to copy the success moments other had experienced. Just like a new pitcher in MLB, the first time thur the batting order they are all world, Deeper in the season you have a map of their tools and their weaknesses. Clemson used the map. Slant the D-line shutting down cutback lanes -Bo was the answer with power to break thru the slants - Bo went out. Crowd the line at the edges - shuts down the Harris bounce. Bring the DB's up to crowd the short passing lanes - Clemson had the talent to do this and Jalen does not yet have the seasoning to calmly go to the 3rd WR dragging behind the tight coverage. Our WR's did not adjust route well largely because - what's the use - Jalen does not adjust well after his first (and maybe second) option is shut down. So Jalen tucks to run but the edge was crowded. The one time he broke it for a TD he went up the middle rather than running to the crowded edge.
All of this can be fixed with a little more seasoning at QB.Off-season film-room time with Sark and then application in the spring and summer.

Well fellas (and ladies) I have some bad new for the Crimson faithful. I spent the last 2 days in the Greenville, SC area just as I did this time last year. The Clemson fighting Dabo's and their fan base are over the top even worse than they were last year.
It seams the Dabos had a problem with the bright lights of the big stage last year but that is no longer the case. This year they know they belong in the spotlight rather than getting wide eyed watching the spectacle. Clemson has all the "juice" and Alabama no longer has the emotional lift because of "been there, done that". The Alabama players want no part of the Dabos, They know that they should not have won the game last year and Watson is gonna control the game with his great cast of receivers. Their running back always preforms better in the biggest games. Our QB will not be able to handle what their defense is bringing, they will be in his face and in his head all night. Alabama is going to have a tough start because of fear and then it will be too late to recover. Once the Dabos get a lead, they will put the hammer down.
There will be no special teams bailout. Dabo himself has been working on removing all flaws from their special teams unit since the trip home from the game last January. On top of that, Watson and his line will be even better at making us pay when we put on a pass rush. He is "The Man" and will light up the holes in our secondary.
I am so upset after hearing all about how bad they will make us look based on what they did to OSU and how bad our Offense was against UW...I don't think I will be able to even watch the game. Just gonna let someone else use my ticket and stay home to rake leaves on Monday. At least that way I can accomplished something without having to pay someone else to do it. :wah:

They don't tend to give many Jucos 4* or more.
That goes back to what the star system was supposed to relate to way back when it started.
5* - top 32 players (first round draft choices) Capable of starting as a true freshamn
4* capable of starting as a soph or redshirt freshman
3* capable of starting as a Jr or redshirt soph
A JuCo kid cannot start until their Jr season (or Soph if they are able to get 3 years because of a redshirt year from JuCo). A JuCo 4* is valued much like a HS 5* would be.

That is weak sauce Spur. If you believed in your Aggies you would want Alabama and Aggie both undefeated for the head to head. That would be the best outcome if you believed TAMU had what it takes to win their way in.

Educated / grammar / spelling / history / math
All just pieces and part but none of which stand alone to define intellect.
Knowing your personal strength and weaknesses, where and how to spend your time and energy and how that effort will impact your own quality of life - there is where you find what matters.
I suck at spelling so if it is important I have someone who is good at it clean up my errors.
I have no legal training so if important I call my lawyer to suggest who would be best to address the legal need at that time.
I can hang drywall cleanly but not efficiently and I suck at finishing it so I hire someone else to handle such tasks.
I choose to spend my effort and energy where it is most efficient in time and money. Such choices may or may not make me smart but they do allow me to choose how to spend my work time and thus how much play time I can afford to give to myself and my family.
To me, grammar and spelling are time and money better left to someone with better skills. No one pays me to spell it or say it right but they pay me well to get it right. Getting it right for someone such as yourself requires a more exacting control of English proficiency. Getting it right for me is making certain that something I design functions in a physical world to meet expectations and needs as safely and cost effectively as possible.
How intelligent or how much of a dumbass I am has no impact on my success so long as I am good at leveraging my strengths and minimizing my weaknesses.
Now I think I will grab some lunch at Arnold's Country Kitchen before I head back to Atlanta.

Joel Klatt on LSU
I had a little fun spinning the L5U crew up a bit.

My boss is a dumbass. I work for myself.

And how much does he pay you to post on tRant all day?
I do not post that often but I do enjoy spinning up a bunch of L5U fans every now and then.
In all seriousness... LSU is the team I most enjoyed watching Alabama play against as a kid. LSU was the team I most enjoyed playing against and it was always the most physical game of the year.
While LSU is not a "blue blood" program they are in my view one of the top 10 programs in college football. They are also (in my view) one of the top 5 or 6 coaching jobs in college football because of many of the things listed in this thread previously.
To be the best you have to beat the best. LSU will win their share over time, I just hope to never again see a time like the decade of 200 ~ 2009 between Alabama and LSU.
The dumbass said I needed to get back to work so ya'll have fun spinning back down.

LSU did just as much if not more for Saban than he did for LSU.
Absolutely

LSU opened the purse and gave him a shitload of power in deciding how it would be spent. He held more power than ANY HC in LSU history even before his first winning season...because LSU recognized him as the Rock Star he wanted to be.
Also true

LSU won him his first SECC.
True

LSU made him the Highest paid coach in NCAA...after winning him his first NCC.
Correct

LSU is responsible for the Saban brand, period.
OK, that is a stretch

And no, he didn't run from LSU. Not at all. He was easily seduced by $ and the promise of NFL success by Devils that refused to take no for an answer and exchanged c-notes for oxygen.
Agreed
We owe L5U our thanks for helping our coach to grow up enough to pull our program out of the shitter if had fallen into. L5U helped Alabama (as Barrett Jones said) Restore Order.

For one, your stats are wrong.
They may be but not by much - please show me my mistake.
All time, L5U has won against Alabama at whopping 31% clip (including the "outlier" years) 25 wins in 80 attempts. Without the "Saban" years 20 out of 74 (28.5%). Without the 2000's 18 of 70 (25%).

I judge best by how they do against best. You can't be considered a top program if you are only 25% successful against a top program.
